Mother loving, love nuggets, I can NOT express to everyone how much I DID not like this book. I didn’t just like it a little bit. I think I actually hate it. In fact, had I not been a part of a reading challenge it would have gone into my Did Not Finish that Shit pile.
Eva doesn’t want him, but she needs him. Julian doesn’t need anyone, but he wants her.
Evangeline Andrews is sassy and feisty, or at least she was – before; before she left New Jersey. She’s a different person in Dublin, and she’s trying hard to be normal here. But the office bitch, her nymphomaniac best friend, and the nice-guy-she’s-just-not-sure-about all threaten to complicate things. The social event of the year is looming. Everyone who’s anyone in the office will be at the masquerade ball. And Eva is invited, well instructed, to attend by her mysterious boss – or else! But she can’t go alone.
Julian Harte is a rich, powerful, Irish alpha with a fascination for games. He’s used to getting what he wants, at all costs. When Julian offers his services as an escort, Eva is about to learn the game is complicated and he doesn’t do losing. Will Eva’s thick skin be enough to protect her when all the masks come down, or is she about to learn she’s not the only one wearing more than one mask?
Let the games begin…

I picked this up because
- It was free
- I liked the synopsis
- I liked the cover
I am extremely glad that I did not waste money buying this book, because 99¢ is still too much for this book.
So why didn’t I like it, let me count the ways; first and foremost it’s about 187 pages too LONG, it was poorly written, I don’t even know what was up with the formatting. It was just littered with errors
His warm breath feel on her chest…
And what, please tell me what, is erotic or sexy about this statement?
She could feel her wet trickle out and dribble down her legs
Dribbling? Really dribbling, like drool from a baby. And this didn’t just happen once. Oh no, she dribbled quite a few times.
…the anticipation of his wet tongue on her nipples sent a pool of wet dribbling out of her.
Please note, things that are dribbling out of ones vagina tend to be a result of some sort of medical issue that needs to be looked into immediately.
Now the story appeared to have an interesting concept, but it was so poorly executed. I would have been more interested in reading the characters interpretation of paint drying than knowing how their sex played out or what feelings/emotions they were experiencing.
And speaking of emotions, my goodness I have NEVER read someone who is so consistently, inconsistent with the way that she feels. She’s virtually bi-polar the entire fucking time. I just couldn’t stand it.
She knew she was just a project to him
but hold I’m so confused, 5 seconds ago you were really into him, so what is it Eva!? Make up your mother fucking mind. Have a thought and follow it through. Quit vacillating between wanting to feel and not wanting to feel, cause your fucking yoyo of emotions is making my head hurt. And Harte… forget it. I just can’t even go there. Was he supposed to be an Alpha, I know the description says he is, but really he’s just a major fucking douche bag. Was he really trying to help her? What exactly was he trying to “free” her from, because she ended up being a hot fucking mess anyway.
Oh and for the first time ever if I had to hear about his damn
…huge cock filling her
I think I would have thrown my poor kindle on the ground, thrown my hands up and had a fuck it moment.
I’m sorry, I just didn’t like this story at all. Not in the least. Oh and if you’re wondering why it got two stars. Because there is ONE bold move in the book. ONE and I’ve never read it played out. That scene alone warrants two stars. But only that alone. Oh and Shelly, cause she is funny.
I can’t actively recommend this book, you’re on your own if you get this. The only and may be the only redeeming factor was the copious (unemotional) sex they were having.
