Her Dom’s Lesson (Dominic Powers Book 2)

Sophia Vasco
Will he ever forgive me? This question haunts me every day and night. He branded me with his touch to the point that no other man will ever compare.
Dominic consumed my life. Until the day he learned the truth about me and everything changed. Nothing is as it seems and it has all spiraled out of control. The weight of the world now rests on my shoulders.
I have to fix this.

Dominic Powers
Some say that Karma is a bitch. I can say from experience that a betrayed Dom is much worse than a bastard ever thought about being.
They think they played me. I denied the man inside me his rightful place and was mistaken for a fool. When I’m done with them, they will feel the lash of her Dom’s lesson.
This isn’t over.

#Women.

I fuck them. I use them. I pay them off. I find another. My demands are never denied. My contracts are always signed. They submit to me. Willingly. Completely. Temporarily. This is how it’s always been.

Until I saw that filthy tweet.

@VaughnAsher My bare pussy. Your tongue. #ThingsIThinkAboutToGetOff

“FilthyBlueBird” thinks she can tease me with hashtags and then hide behind a Twitter handle? She thinks I wouldn’t be more than happy to #RockHerFilthyWorld? She’s wrong.

Her online fantasy is about to collide with her public reality, and it’s about to happen… now.

THIS IS A SERIAL NOVELLA
THAT MEANS ALL ENDINGS ARE CLIFFHANGERS
THIS NOVELLA IS ABOUT 150 PAGES LONG
THIS IS PART ONE OF SIX
BOOKS ARE RELEASED EVERY TWO WEEKS

Woah! Why haven’t I read anything by J.A Huss before? I’m not including the book in Bend, because I don’t remember that story. Maybe I should not admit that, but fact of the matter is, I don’t. This though, is going to stick with me. I’m not even sure I want to review this yet, but 6 novella’s will be a little juggling on my part so let’s see what I can tell you about this book without really telling you anything at all.
Before the book even started the premise had my attention. I should have known that there was going to be elements of BDSM just from the first few lines. Contracts, submission, but somehow I was still surprised. In the best possible way of course.

Then there was the whole Twitter aspect. I’ve been consumed with twitter these past few weeks so the fact that there is an entire story with twitter as a component of the story, really drew me in even more. And who doesn’t want to have a steamy encounter with the celebrity of their dreams. I have a short list of actors that I would love to have the very encounter Grace Kinsella has with Vaughn Asher.

What makes this book fun is that Grace wants nothing more than to have Vaughn, but not so much that she just throws herself at him, be damned the consequences. She challenges him and questions him at every turn. Not at the cost of turning him away, but drawing him even more, which is what I think draws in the reader.

Vaughn, a man who knows what he wants doesn’t really seem to know what he wants when it comes to Grace. Tiny little things that happen throughout, make me wonder where his feelings lie and I guess that’s the point. How does he really feel about her? Will he ever get what he wants from her and will Grace allow it. My hope is that they both do. I’m already anxious for book two and I can’t believe that this story is going to span 6 novellas. That is a lot of story to tell and it really peaks my interest as to where these two are headed. And if book one is anything to go by, it’s somewhere great.

★★★✩✩ Submissives Caught on Camera (BDSM Romance) – J.R. Luxor

Submissives Caught on Camera (BDSM Romance Book 3) – [kindle edition] $2.99

Submissives Caught on Camera, by J.R. Luxor, follows the lives of four couples in the San Francisco Bay Area who practice BDSM in their sex lives; sometimes, to varying degrees, with each other. This is the third of a series, beginning with BDSM Romance, How One Man Recruited and Trained a sub, and then Wearing His Collar, the View from Below. In Camera, the four couples decide to make a documentary video of one of their events, their sex parties. Not all of the woman of the four has sex with men other than her partner. The couples have different arrangements for their sexual interactions with others.
In BDSM Romance, one of the men, John, met and formed a mated pair with Curi. John challenged Curi to look inside herself to see if she was a masochistic submissive personality. She accepted his challenge and took the leap. She found that she loved it as nothing before and never wanted to go back to the surface world. In Wearing His Collar, the readers learned how the sexual dynamics of the group evolve when Curi joins them. John and Curi enjoy role playing with BDSM skits in private at home, and then branch out to watch the other couples perform scenes for the group, and Curi finds she enjoys being watched when her turn comes to do a skit for them with John.
In Camera, we’re introduced to Bridget, who is hired to shoot, direct, produce and edit their movie. Bridget is a unicorn, a female whose “thing” is threesomes with couples, either husbands and their wives or guys and steady girlfriends. Bridget refuses the group’s multiple invitations to play with them sexually, in spite of liking them as she gets to know them, because of her business ethic of not having sex with current clients. Her professionalism keeps her at arms’ length from her new friends, but the video product she produces memorializes profound observations not just about these eight individuals, but the practice of BDSM sex with multiple partners as a hobby. Curi continues the evolve in her search for her sexual dynamic niche as her BDSM role playing with John in skits for the others begins to overlap with the performance of another couple in their circle. Curi is surprised by what she discovers about herself as she finds a BFF in Lily, the collared sub of John’s friend, Michael. The evolution of Curi continues, effecting the lives and arrangements of everyone around her.

This is the first time that an author reached out to me and asked me to read a book to provide a review. It’s quite an interesting experience, I must say. I will also say that I’m rather glad that the author did reach out, because this was a good book. It wasn’t perfect, but I liked the concept and it really made me wonder how much experience the author has with this lifestyle. It was very naturally written.

But before I begin with how much I did like it, I have to get a little into some of the things that hindered me from really liking this. This story starts in the middle of a series, no problem, except I haven’t read the other books, so I felt a little lost trying to connect with characters that I had no back story to. Had I had that background, I certainly would have enjoyed them more, rather I was left feeling as though there was more going on than I understood.

There was also times when the story felt a little disjointed, transitions from scene to scene wasn’t always clear, though the scenes themselves were well laid out. If this had been fleshed out more, this would have been better. Instead, we’re moving from past to present memories with no clear indication that a transition has been made. It was frustrating and confusing at times.

What’s weird though, is that I just really liked this over all. I could actually forgive some of the editing because I was invested in the scenes. I love reading about BDSM and this felt authentic. Like the writer wasn’t trying too hard. Scenes are described naturally and they aren’t over the top, even though the “play” sequences are. If that makes sense. I felt like the Circle of Rope group, was as an actual group of people who routinely get together. I guess what I’m saying here is that this read more like a journal entry/memoir than a work of fiction. The scenes are filthy and the author has a natural affinity to write about non-consensual play which makes me wonder how much experience the author has with it. Wouldn’t I love to know?! Wink wink.

I’d really like to see the story developed more and slowed down. This could be a solid 4 stars, but right now it gets a 2.5-3.

Ella Dominguez – 99¢ All Books

One of my favorite authors of all time has all of her books on sale for 99¢.  If you have just been thinking about getting her books, today is the perfect chance for you to pick up a novel or 4.  My recommendations include;

The Art of Dominance series

The Complete Trilogy:
The Art of Submission (Book 1)
The Art of Domination (Book 2)
The Art of Control (Book 3)

Approximately 315K words or about 950 pages. Contains moderate BDSM themes, detailed sexual encounters, mild edge play, and is intended for mature audiences and readers 18+. Not for the fainthearted.

Romantic, erotic, deeply emotional, and humorous.

This is the story of Isabel, a shy, submissive artist with an abusive past and a dominant streak, and Dylan, an entrepreneur, art collector with singular tastes in women and sex, and a sordid past in the BDSM lifestyle.

This is the tale of their love for each other, their trials in a world that offers nothing but obstacles, and the collision of two dynamic characters who struggle with their dominant and submissive tendencies and seek control in all things.

Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1)

Warning: This is neither a conventional romance nor a traditional love story. There are no hearts and flowers on the pages of this book. The heroine doesn’t always make wise choices and though I’ve tried to make her strong, she’s often times weak in the face of the fierce hero. The hero is not a knight in a shining armor. He’s broken and frequently cruel, and what every woman in the real world should avoid. What’s contained in this book isn’t real – it’s fiction; dark, depraved and decadent make-believe. Contains detailed sexual encounters, profanity, uncomfortable situation, and erotic elements including voyeurism, oral and anal. INTENDED FOR READERS 18+.

Obsession, possession, resilience, insanity…

Seeking solitude and reprieve from her past failed relationships, Elsa begins her life anew in Richmond, hoping to find the change that she so desperately needs. Things are looking up for her, a new job, new friends… a fresh start.

But Victor has different plans for her. From the moment he heard her voice and set his eyes on Elsa, she became next on his to-do list; his Chapter 8. A well-known and respected criminal profiler, his mind is as dark as the people he hunts down. It takes one to know one, after all. Under the guise of making his subjects stronger, he intends to break Elsa down using everything in his arsenal, including pleasure, pain, humiliation, and things unspeakable. Everyone is fair game in his book and he discriminates against no one when he chooses his test subjects.

Lonely, still on the mend from a bad break-up and longing for sexual attention, Elsa consents to an odd proposition, unaware of Victor’s plans. However, she can’t be broken so easily and what he puts her through only fuels the fire burning within her, a flame that begins to blaze out of control as she becomes obsessed with everything about Victor and peeling back his cruel layers in search of the real man hiding beneath his heartless facade.

In Victor’s world, there is no such thing as happily ever after and Chapter 8 proves to be an infuriating challenger when she flips the tables on his selfish and twisted game, a game they both may end up losing their hearts and minds over.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with all of her books so far and I just know that she has more amazing things to come.  Everyone should give her a shot, she is a really gifted writer!

But when her fantasy brings her face-to-face with her true feelings for Logan, she’ll have to figure out if she’s ready to trust her heart as well as her body to him forever…

I don’t know what I was expecting when I started reading this. I really thought that it would be a mild introductory BDSM novel. It’s not. Actually it’s not even close. This is what I’ve imagined a good BDSM novel should be about with romance at the forefront. Two people needing each other, not just because they are broken, but because they really do need each other in the simplest and purest form.

We start with a woman who comes to take over her sisters lingerie (and so much more) shop.   Madison, is not unlike many other women, career driven, focused on herself and not really sure of what or who she is.   Her sister who is no longer around was the opposite; knew what she was, who she was and always trying to help her baby sister find herself.  Throughout the story she’s a constant voice to Madison, not literally, though.  Alice, Madison’s sister is a critical piece throughout. I loved hearing about her and learning about the relationship that they shared and there were moments when JW Hill would allow you a small glimpse into their relationship, allowing you to feel that connection that they had.  I would at times be upset that we would never get to learn more about Alice, but understanding at the sometime that we’ve learned all we need to. Understanding that what’s important is how she brings the two main characters people together.

Madison is really well developed throughout the series and I was happy that she wasn’t ever stuck. She evolved, had her own sense of self in a reasonable amount of time as the story carried on.  She was a woman trying to find her own path after spending so long trying to walk away from it. It was really wonderful seeing her own every aspect of herself.  It never felt as though she was giving up a part of herself, rather she was gifting it to someone who was deserving of.

Logan, I don’t even know what to say about Logan. He was utterly wonderful. He’s not your conventional leading male. In fact outside of his role as a Dom no matter how handsome he was described to be, I felt like he was plain, that slightly boring looking guy next door that you don’t really look at, until you look at him. I don’t even mean that in a bad way, I mean it in the best of ways. I vision him to be strong, rugged and manly, not overly handsome, but it was never about how he looked but rather the power and confidence that he exuded. Logan is what I imagine a true dominant to be like. He always, always put Madison first, even when it didn’t seem like he was doing so. My favorite part of him was that, he was like a conductor, he knew every way to get the best out of her, knew when to push her, knew when to make her think differently even when he saw her pulling back. I know that I’ve read books before and gushed about how wonderful a guy is, but Logan? He felt real. He wasn’t perfect, but his confidence? That confidence that a true Dom has. The one that pulls in a submissive like a magnet, that was where Logan was perfect.  He also said the most wonderful things to Madison, in the most normal of ways.  They weren’t over the top lush lines, they we’re poetic truths.

I don’t know about those shit-for-brains men you’ve been with, Madison, and I wish I could have spared you the pain they caused you, but I won’t regret a minute of it if it brought you to me as the person you are

There are only a couple of other characters in this story, ones that are important to the story; Troy, a whole lot of fun and in the same boat as Madison, though for completely different reasons and his partner Shale.

This is one of those series that sings, each line, each sequence, building and coordinating to a beautiful finish. I’m so sad that this I’ve wrapped it up, but in a way glad, because yes there could be more, but sometimes you have to end on that high. This accomplished it and so much more. I’ll definitely be on the prowl for more Joey W. Hill books, because if this is an indication of her writing, she certainly has a fan in me!

Playing the Game – M.Q. Barber #bookreview #review

Playing the Game (Neighborly Affection) – [Kindle Edition] $3.03

Neighborly Affection, #1
She expects dinner with neighbors, but gets sex with a side of safewords.

Mechanical engineer Alice still drools over her sexy neighbors a year after she’s moved in. She can’t decide whether they’re roommates or partners, but either way, they spark a wanton desire in her that has her imagination–and vibrator–working overtime.

Henry, director of everything around him, studies human nature and applies philosophies to his paintings as well as his relationships. Quirky, polite to a fault, and formal, he follows his own code of honor even when it means denying himself.

Flirtatious and playful, Jay needs stability, guidance, and to please others. His antics counterbalance Henry’s stuffy ways while he brings a level of vulnerability and fun to everything the trio does.

BDSM play with the enigmatic artist and flirtatious joker across the hall allows Alice to put aside the linear thought processes which have kept her unsatisfied and distant with other lovers. She must dismiss her preconception of love, sacrificing her independence, if she’s to find a permanent place in their beds and hearts.

CONTENT WARNING: Explicit sex, graphic language, BDSM, bondage, spanking, M/M/F menage.

82,000 Words

Ugh, I don’t know if I want to keep reading this story arc, even though I want to know how the relationship between these characters play out. The problem is here is that Henry really kinda ruined this story for me. It’s a shame, because I think that I would have liked it tons more if the tone of his voice wasn’t so annoying.

“But Alice herself is a delicate creature, a wondrous harmony of elements. Her pleasure depends on optimum timing, more so than ours, my boy.”

Henry is the alpha mature male, to both Alice and Jay and really that sounds great, until he opens his mouth and starts referring to Jay as ““Good boy” or “my boy” and Alice as “dear girl”. It wasn’t as though he would do it rarely either, it was all the time. He’s general way of instructing and speaking to them both was really out-of-place with the other characters. It was as though he came from Victorian, England. He’s a man out of his time.

Also the constant repetition of her safety, security and the incessant repeating of her safe-word;  We get it!!  In the real world, I understand the importance of affirmation.  In my fiction though, I don’t need to be repeatedly told something that I got the first 3 times you told me.  Just thinking about it is making me angry.

I don’t know and seriously doubt if I will spend the almost $8 finishing out this story. I know that I might end up throwing my kindle because if I have to hear Henry’s “voice” one more grating time. Maybe it would be safer for me to read another time.  Maybe it’s a mood type of story.

I will say that the scenes were pretty good, but I have to go back to the whole Henry thing, ugh, Henry!! You really ruined it for me.

I don’t have any complaints when it comes to Alice and Jay.  They had great chemistry really playing off each other well.  Admittedly the way that they are written they definitely need a third.  Someone to guide them through their submission and need for one another.  Had that man not been Henry, I would be begging to read more. Sadly, I don’t feel that way.

If you read this book, do so with caution.  Yes it has some steamy threesome scenese and really nicely laid out fantasies and I do honestly think that the series is going to get better (based on the developing relationship), but until I get passed my distaste of Henry, I doubt you’ll be getting a review out of me anytime soon.

Fifty Shades of Grey Trailer & Jamie Dornan

I was extremely excited about  Jamie Dornan playing Christian Grey, but then he shaved his beard off and now I’m not that excited anymore.  I don’t what it was about the beard, but it was a part of who he is. I’m so shallow I disgust myself, but whatever.

Having read the books and having since read books that are quite frankly better, I don’t know how I am going to feel about seeing everything played out on the big screen.  The story overall is juevnille and is reminiscent of Twilight in many ways.  But it is about a topic I love reading about and it does have Jamie Dornan in it.  I know that I will be seeing this movie even if that results in me bashing it wildly.  Though I really hope that I end up loving it.  Again, only because I love Jamie Dornan so much.
