Possessed by You (Torn Trilogy Book 1) – [kindle edition] $2.99
Releasing control is relief…

I was warned about men like Brett Maclean.

He was dark and thrilling, intense and controlling. And he captivated me from the very start. He unleashed something inside of me like no other. His bad rep and troubled past drew me to him like gasoline feeding a flame.

With just one taste, I felt the danger in him, the uncontrollable power that left me breathless. The passion consumed me. Fast and hard.

Temptation couldn’t guard my heart. I should have known a man of such raw and wild desires came with competition.

I love it when I write notes to myself about a book: Is this book porn? Is there an actual story. Apparently even though I was 25% way (a quarter people!) there was still no plot. Not beyond the fact that we’ve established that Brett wants to fuck the hell out of Evvie.

I was so excited to reads this book. The premise sounded, well vague to say the least, but sometimes they are and you come across a gem. I wouldn’t say that was the case with this book. Instead I would say that this is a fuck-fest with a possible plot snuck in there somewhere. You just have to read between the lines. Maybe not between them, maybe you should make up your own plot. I ultimately felt like that’s what I had to do, because the first half of the story is an absolute test of how much sex you can handle, story be damned. As it turns out, I actually like a storyline when I read a book. I also like to have just a little bit of context when I am introduced to characters.

I felt like when I started this book, I was plod right in the middle of a story. I kept wondering if I had accidentally skipped directly to book two, but it turns out this is indeed book one of a three part series.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, isn’t this the very reason you read these types of books, for the sheer smuttiness of it all? While this is correct, there is something a little more important than fucking in a story for me. Yes, it’s true, I require a story. It’s why we’re all here right?  We want the sex to have a little bit of purpose, a reason, dare I be so bold.  Here it just felt like it was two people going at it at every possible chance.  There wasn’t much emotion behind it, that deep connection between the two characters isn’t as tangible as your made to believe, its all disconnected.

The problem I think here is the pace. Like the author is desperate for you to be on board with their relationship and the only way that she feels that she can get you there is the copious amounts of sex that they have.  It just doesn’t work.  It’s too much.  Everything is an onslaught and its such a shame because if the story was slowed down and paced more evenly, then I would have been totally on board with Evvie and Brett.

The other problem that I have, is some of the ridiculous dialogue and Brett’s reference to Evvie as “Lover”.  I’m sure I’m not hearing it in the intended voice, rather  I have the voice of saying Rachel Dratch (from SNL) saying “Luvah” stuck in my. Its terrible.  And then there is incessant smirking and being smug that Brett is always doing.  Why can’t he just smile.  Is he really that smug.  That in no way endears me to him.  In fact it’s incredibly off putting, especially when it seems to be the only way to express a smile that spreads across his lips.

I am willing to give the series a shot though, I’m going to read the second book and see where these two are headed. I’m either a glutton for punishment or a complete moron, but I’m fully committed to seeing the series through, even if it’s for all of the sheer fucking that i,m i’ll be exposed to.

Making Over Maris: 3 (Wired) – [kindle edition] $5.78

Wired Series, Book Three

When über-nerd Jack asks Sara to make him more attractive to women, she
can’t say no–even though it’s an impossible task. He’s shaggy and doughy
and hopelessly inappropriate. He has no style or emotional intelligence
but he’s a good person. And a great friend. What Sara never expects?
Beneath all that fur and geekiness is a steamy hunk just waiting to
emerge.

Jack takes Sara’s regimen very seriously, working out and losing weight
until he feels like a new

man. He even complies with her command to shave his beard–because Jack
didn’t ask Sara to make him over so he would be attractive to other women.
He only wants to be attractive to her. They go on a series of fake dates,
each hotter and more sinful than the last. It’s not long before Sara
discovers Jack’s secret desire to be dominated and what began as an
arrangement becomes something amazing–something that could be real.

Inside Scoop: Our hero appreciates Femdom–with the right woman. Our hero
doesn’t appreciate perfect strangers grabbing his junk. Ask nicely first,
ladies!

This book was simply marvelous. I loved it from the first line to the last. I wish I could give it 10 stars, because I don’t think that I’ve enjoyed a book this much in quite a while. The story is funny and the dialogue between all of the characters is marvelous.

Oh boy! Oh, boy, oh boy, oh boy. I’d been holding on to this book on my Wish List on Amazon for quite sometime. I had a few hesitations about picking it up because of the price tag; $5.78 for a 200 page book. But, there was is a book challenge at stake, and I jumped at the chance to get it. Price tag be damned! I shouldn’t have held back. I should have gotten the book the first that I came across it, because this my friends is a marvelous story of a Geek and the love of his life. I don’t want to spoil this story for anyone because I think that everyone should read this story. If I could lend it to everyone I would. If I could have strategically highlighted every line on every page. I would. It’s that good. It’s page after page of entertaining humorous, affectionate, comical, love and romance.

I loved it from the first line to the last. The characters are absolutely hilarious. Sara who is coming off a bad “break-up” isn’t so jaded that she comes across as bitter, angry or insecure. She’s got gumption! She knows what she wants and she knows how to go about getting it.

If a guy was drop-dead gorgeous but didn’t have a romantic side, he was only good for a fuck

Generally in my reading I’m not drawn to FemDom, so I’ll be honest when I tell you that I didn’t even realize that she was a Domme until the words began to appear in the book. I guess I completely missed that part when I was reading the synopsis! It didn’t change anything for me. In fact, it was perfect. The way that she exudes her power over Jack. WOW! I could have read a lot more of that. Seriously, way, way more.

And Jack, dear sweet loveable Jack

“What the hell is that?” She gaped at the rumpled, well-worn paper.
“It’s my flowchart.”

Jack is quite easily one of my favorite book boyfriends. The only thing going against him for me and I must remember that he is not real, was that he was submissive. Had he been a Dom, I think I would have been even more immersed in the story, forever lost in a fictitious man. He’s adorable, beyond adorable. What’s beyond adorable? I don’t even know I don’t have the words, but whatever that word is, he is that.
It wasn’t even ridiculous for me to read this…

He came. Exploded. Erupted. Bliss cascaded as jet after jet of burning cum flooded from him. And all the while, she whipped his cock. Whipped it into a frenzy. It was fucking sublime.

…as I usually find it to be, because I could just imagine it. Jet after jet, sure! Why not?! Is there more? I’d welcome that too. Seriously, I’ve not ever been so enamored or engrossed. It could be that he was so oblivious to ever hint or clue that Sara threw his way. Or that it was almost like reading about a real guy (in many ways, dare I say, a little like my husband, GASP!). He was sublime and he made me want more. I need more. I know that there won’t be more, but one can always hope.

Jack and Sara’s is a story that I could read over and over again and probably enjoy it the more times that I read it. The story is simple the plot equally so and its simplicity is what makes it so enjoyable. There’s nothing overly complex happening here. They just each want what they want and you get to enjoy the ride as they get there. If you’re not rooting for these two page after page, I’m sorry there is something wrong with you.

Simply put, I would highly, highly and did I say highly recommend this book. It most definitely is a book that I would read again and again. This is, without a doubt a must read!

The book is the third in a three part series, but can be read as a standalone. I’m actually pretty glad it is part of a set, the other characters were just as entertaining as Sara and Jack. While I may not get to them immediately, they are on my Wish List and I can’t wait to squeeze in sometime to get around to them. Whenever that maybe.

Oh and my absolute final word on this book;  that book cover!  That book cover is what started it all.  Anyone know who the model is?

Serving The Billionaire – Bec Linder (series) #BookReview #Review

Serving the Billionaire (The Silver Cross Club Book 1) – $0.00/FREE
Regan takes the job because she’s desperate. She just got fired, she’s down to her last hundred bucks, and she hasn’t spoken to her parents in years. She’s out of options, and serving drinks at an upscale gentlemen’s club sounds easy enough.

At the Silver Cross Club, she’s exposed to a world of wealth and hedonism that she’s never experienced. And the clients tip well — so well that she’s willing to ignore the debauchery that goes on in the back rooms.

Then she meets billionaire Carter Sutton.

Scion of a powerful family, and a regular client at the club, he’s rich, handsome, and incredibly charismatic. Regan finds herself being drawn into his orbit.

But their undeniable chemistry can’t prepare Regan for Carter’s sexual desires. He’s used to getting what he wants, and Regan has only two options: resist, or surrender completely…

This 38,000-word novella is an erotic romance with explicit content and is intended for an adult audience.

Aah, billionaire romances and they’re Pretty Woman premises, how I miss you so much!

Yeah, so this isn’t quite Pretty Woman, but the concept is pretty much the same.  Down on her luck girl, while not a prostitute, gets a job at a high-end gentleman’s club and ends up meeting a billionaire, who would like nothing more to change her entire world.

This is such a simple story and that’s one of the reasons that I like it so much.  It’s not trying particularly hard, it’s just upbeat, miracles can happen type storytelling.  So far no great tragedies, some tasteful humiliation and a sex scene, that has the chance to lead to so much more in book 2.   The characters are both likable.  Reagan is submissive and sassy.  It’s a great combination, there’s nothing more boring for me than a woman who just complies.  Reagan is written as a woman who expects more of herself all the while learning and accepting things of herself that she never knew until she meets Carter

I enjoyed reading about the attraction that these characters have towards each other

I had the impression, walking toward him, that he was reeling me in like a fish on a line, drawing me toward him with the force of his blue gaze.

and I like that it remains throughout the entire book.  There are times when male characters in stories like this, where they are just unapologetic assholes.  While it’s okay sometimes, it’s refreshing when an asshole admits that he’s wrong and wants to be a better version of himself for the woman he is drawn to.   Carter does that so well in this story and I can not wait to see what else he is going to do for Reagan in the next book.

One of the major themes of the relationship that I am enjoying a great deal with these two is the humiliation aspect of there sexual escapades.

I liked the implicit humiliation of the situation: him cool and in control, sitting down, fully dressed; and me exposed, subservient, taking off my clothes for a man I knew almost nothing about.

In really simple terms, it’s pretty fucking hot when Carter pushes Reagan to do things.  I’m hoping beyond hope that there is more of that in the next book.  Humiliation in a story as a whole is something I enjoy.  There is just something so incredibly naughty about debasing yourself willingly to someone.  And to have power and control taken away trusting in that other person.  Well, I just can’t get enough of it.   I’ve read books in the past where you feel uncomfortable for the female character as she is subjected to the debauched needs of her partner, but here,  I couldn’t have cheered Carter on more.  I wouldn’t have minded if someone walked in on them as they where in flagrante.

You may be wondering why I gave it such an average rating then, well here it is.  It needs to be re-edited and while it may be harsh of me to give it an average rating because of something like that, the simple thing is, this book would be a lot better if it had been edited better.  Some scenes lose their potency for me because I read it as I see it and then I have to re-read as it’s intended.  If I didn’t have to do that, well this would probably have gotten a solid 4.    That said, while I debated spending the $4 on the next book, I’m just going to do it.  I really like Carter and I need more…

Taming of the Prude – Esmae Browder

The Taming of the Prude: Book 3 in the Naughty Shakespeare Series – [kindle edition] .99¢
Some marriages begin with mutual trust and admiration. And some…well, some begin with the promise of a dowry and the taming of a wife. When saucy, headstrong Kate discovers that the man she’s just seduced in the courtyard is to be her future husband Petruchio, she is furious and vows to make sure that he never receives the dowry her father has promised him if he tames her! Instead, Kate begins a campaign to tame him and her methods are a little more adventurous than his. Unafraid of her sexuality, Petruchio’s wife uses all sort of devices to make sure he knows exactly who the boss is in their marriage is. But can they fight the sparks of love that threaten to tear their strong willed natures a part? And just who is taming who?

This fun, fast paced erotic tale based on Shakespeare’s comedy The Taming of the Shrew is the third book in Esmae Browder’s Naughty Shakespeare series.

Taming of the Prude is an erotic retelling of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, or if you’ve seen the movie; Kiss Me Kate. I’ve seen the movie, albeit years ago, and I’ve never read the play. I’m going to have to remedy that because this retelling while a very extreme version of the story, it reminded me how funny this story actually is.

Since I only had a general idea of what the story was about, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect out of this story. I guess I should say too that when I read any novella of this type, you never really know what you’re getting yourself into.

One thing this story absolutely is, is filthy. Great right?! That’s what we’re all here. Some short and sweet smut! So why didn’t I just love this story? I think it just overall wasn’t my cup of tea. The relationship between Kate and Tru isn’t so much Tru taming Kate as it is an expedition of sexual self-discovery for both characters. Not that, that is a problem, I guess I was thinking that it would closer to the original retelling, again I need to re-read the play.  I just wish that there had been more active taming, maybe in the vain of BDSM. That would have been great. As it is, there are some threesomes and some very hot scenes, of the one handed read variety. If that’s how you like your books, then I would highly recommend this story to you.   I wouldn’t recommend this as a love story in the least bit, but definitely a fun romp.

This book is part of a three series set and at the very end the author eludes to more coming. I kind of hope so, because I may be tempted to pick another one up.

Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1)

Warning: This is neither a conventional romance nor a traditional love story. There are no hearts and flowers on the pages of this book. The heroine doesn’t always make wise choices and though I’ve tried to make her strong, she’s often times weak in the face of the fierce hero. The hero is not a knight in a shining armor. He’s broken and frequently cruel, and what every woman in the real world should avoid. What’s contained in this book isn’t real – it’s fiction; dark, depraved and decadent make-believe. Contains detailed sexual encounters, profanity, uncomfortable situation, and erotic elements including voyeurism, oral and anal. INTENDED FOR READERS 18+.

Obsession, possession, resilience, insanity…

Seeking solitude and reprieve from her past failed relationships, Elsa begins her life anew in Richmond, hoping to find the change that she so desperately needs. Things are looking up for her, a new job, new friends… a fresh start.

But Victor has different plans for her. From the moment he heard her voice and set his eyes on Elsa, she became next on his to-do list; his Chapter 8. A well-known and respected criminal profiler, his mind is as dark as the people he hunts down. It takes one to know one, after all. Under the guise of making his subjects stronger, he intends to break Elsa down using everything in his arsenal, including pleasure, pain, humiliation, and things unspeakable. Everyone is fair game in his book and he discriminates against no one when he chooses his test subjects.

Lonely, still on the mend from a bad break-up and longing for sexual attention, Elsa consents to an odd proposition, unaware of Victor’s plans. However, she can’t be broken so easily and what he puts her through only fuels the fire burning within her, a flame that begins to blaze out of control as she becomes obsessed with everything about Victor and peeling back his cruel layers in search of the real man hiding beneath his heartless facade.

In Victor’s world, there is no such thing as happily ever after and Chapter 8 proves to be an infuriating challenger when she flips the tables on his selfish and twisted game, a game they both may end up losing their hearts and minds over.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with all of her books so far and I just know that she has more amazing things to come.  Everyone should give her a shot, she is a really gifted writer!

Red & Wolfe: (Erotic Retelling) Part 4 – Ella James

Red & Wolfe Part 4: An Erotic Fairy Tale – [kindle edition] $2.99

Return to Rabbit Island for the heart-pounding conclusion to Red and Wolfe’s story.

Don’t forget your extra panties – but this time, you might also want to bring your gun.

*Contains spoiler-ish type detail*

Okay, first of all, best $3 I’ve spent. I mean it!

Secondly; I love James Wolfe, I wish he was real. I wish I was Red and I was stuck on Rabbit Island, doing what rabbit’s do. This was such a good ending to the series. I was a little nervous about how it was going to end, but I was far from disappointed.

So let’s start here, I am strong advocate of a filthy mouthed alpha male character, James Wolfe aka Race embodies that to the core. Every time he said anything to Red, I was having a panty melting moment. He is up there as my number one (okay top 3) book boyfriends.

She has the nerve to look up at me impertinently, the naughty little cunt.

I know a lot of people aren’t fond of the “C” word, but I personally find it rather fabulous. It just sounds so naughty, taboo almost and every time he thought it or said it I would get so giddy, excited even, because everything about his character is exactly that. James Wolfe is deliciously dark, if we ended up knowing nothing about him, I think that I would have been okay with that. I didn’t need to know everything about him, other than he was hungry and desperate for Red.

You’re asking for a thorough fucking, Red. My cock, your pussy. Now

And speaking of Red, have I told you how much I enjoy her? She’s still spunky as ever in book 4. And while the whole owning her submissiveness was still up in the air for me even through the end, I’m just going to believe that she knew that, that was what Wolfe needed from her. I loved that Red had the spunky confidence to go up against Wolfe (sexually). She always challenged him, which I really liked. She wasn’t about to let someone she cared about so deeply just not take notice

I want you, Race. I have no idea why. Maybe I’m crazy. But when I think of leaving right now, I feel like I’d never stop looking back. So you want to fuck me?” I step toward the bedroom and curl my finger at him. “Come fuck me”.

One of the hardest things I struggle with when I read short stories like these is that, well, they’re short. Especially when you’re bringing together characters that you’re getting in this story. It feels like it’s a hard thing to balance the romance with the heat, but Ella James does a really fine job, in this last book. I worried that there would be heat than affection, but it’s the small moments that she throws in that makes it a really sweet love story of sorts

I reach Gertrude’s office last, and there he is—sitting in her rickety old desk chair, sleeping with my picture in his hand, as if he’s waiting just for me

I loved that there was a HEA, one that was believable too, considering the entire story as a whole. Ella has another fairy re-telling coming out sometime in August (Beast) and I am really looking forward to that.

I definitely recommend this story if you like face paced dirty reads it’s worth every penny in my opinion.

Dair Book 3: The Wild Side Series (Finale) – R.K. Lilley #review #BookReview

DAIR (The Wild Side #3) – [kindle edition] $2.99

ARE YOU READY FOR THE TRUTH?

I’d started writing everything about her down. I didn’t want to forget.
The color of her hair. The depth of her eyes. The stubborn shape of her jaw. The way her lips shaped words with such expression. The way her voice made my chest ache. The way she gave advice beyond her years.
The way she listened like she cared about every word.
The way she made me feel—Alive.
Every curve and hollow of her body was recorded, in my mind, and now my hard drive.
There was a bit of truth in every lie, and even if it had only been fed to me in the smallest increments, I wanted, needed to remember the real Iris.
Because in the end, there was one irrefutable thing that I couldn’t deny.
Hostage or hustler, sinner or saint, whatever she was or wasn’t, whether she lied to my face or taunted me with hints of the truth, all of this seemed always to defer to the more pertinent fact at hand.
She was mine.
Inconceivably.
Undeniably.
Mine.

After yet another shocking discovery, followed by a disturbing letter, Dair is almost certain Iris has left his life for good. He tries his best to move on.
Easier said than done, and when an unexpected and dangerous opportunity arises for him to find out what happened to her, he doesn’t hesitate to take it.
As usual, with Iris, the answer leaves him more lost than the question.
Every revelation is shrouded in mystery, and every disclosure leaves Dair more in the dark than ever.
And when finally, the messy truth is revealed in its entirety, will he be ready for it?

This is the final installment in Iris and Dair’s story
This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

**May contain spoilers**

So here we have it folks, the final installment in The Wild Side series.
While this wasn’t my favorite of the three books, it was a good wrap up to the series. I worry that I had built it up so much in my mind as being fantastical that I think I was a little disappointed with the “why” Iris was doing what she was doing. I won’t give it away, but I’ll say that Turner’s suspicions were far more entertaining than the actual event.
Speaking of Turner, this guy needs his own story. I mean seriously, he is just hilarious.

…you’ve fallen for some wild young thing who was only taking her daddy issues out on your enthusiastic cock

I have another one that I have to share, because this guy just had me ballin’

You lost your belief in romantic love after twenty years in that bitch’s used up snatch

He is so hilariously crass, I just loved him. He was the perfect balance to Dair’s angst… Which was incessant by the way. Honestly it wasn’t his fault though. Iris disappears more than lost fucking socks in your dryer. He was clearly written a man in love, because the incessant “where is she? I love her so fucking much, I can’t move on with my life” was making me a little crazy. I just wanted her to fucking stay! They are so in love, but you have to wonder how in love are they because there she goes… off again.

Anyway, it’s still a great story and the May to December aspect of it, while it was supposed to be significant, didn’t feel important enough to be an integral part of the story. And that may be where I struggled, there were too many issues with Iris. It would have been better if the story could have just focused on one aspect of her, instead of the multiple arcs that she had going on.

I still think everyone should read this series. It’s delightfully filthy and I loved hearing things from the voice of Dair. It’s a nice change to hear things from a man’s perspective. It’s clipped and fast paced, so constantly moves, no time to drag things out. I would probably re-read the entire series again, because really I do like Dair (have I said that already).

One part of me was still in 100%, and that was my traitorous cock

This absolutely has a HEA if you need to know that before picking it up. Actually the entire book is a HEA from a one handed read perspective. Definitely on my recommended read list.

So now that this has ended, I’m ready for R.K Lilley’s next book, part of the Up In the Air Series: Mr. Beautiful.
