Making Over Maris – Sabrina York ***Highly recommended read!!*** #BookReview #Review #ContempRomance

Making Over Maris: 3 (Wired) – [kindle edition] $5.78

Wired Series, Book Three

When über-nerd Jack asks Sara to make him more attractive to women, she
can’t say no–even though it’s an impossible task. He’s shaggy and doughy
and hopelessly inappropriate. He has no style or emotional intelligence
but he’s a good person. And a great friend. What Sara never expects?
Beneath all that fur and geekiness is a steamy hunk just waiting to
emerge.

Jack takes Sara’s regimen very seriously, working out and losing weight
until he feels like a new

man. He even complies with her command to shave his beard–because Jack
didn’t ask Sara to make him over so he would be attractive to other women.
He only wants to be attractive to her. They go on a series of fake dates,
each hotter and more sinful than the last. It’s not long before Sara
discovers Jack’s secret desire to be dominated and what began as an
arrangement becomes something amazing–something that could be real.

Inside Scoop: Our hero appreciates Femdom–with the right woman. Our hero
doesn’t appreciate perfect strangers grabbing his junk. Ask nicely first,
ladies!

This book was simply marvelous. I loved it from the first line to the last. I wish I could give it 10 stars, because I don’t think that I’ve enjoyed a book this much in quite a while. The story is funny and the dialogue between all of the characters is marvelous.

Oh boy! Oh, boy, oh boy, oh boy. I’d been holding on to this book on my Wish List on Amazon for quite sometime. I had a few hesitations about picking it up because of the price tag; $5.78 for a 200 page book. But, there was is a book challenge at stake, and I jumped at the chance to get it. Price tag be damned! I shouldn’t have held back. I should have gotten the book the first that I came across it, because this my friends is a marvelous story of a Geek and the love of his life. I don’t want to spoil this story for anyone because I think that everyone should read this story. If I could lend it to everyone I would. If I could have strategically highlighted every line on every page. I would. It’s that good. It’s page after page of entertaining humorous, affectionate, comical, love and romance.

I loved it from the first line to the last. The characters are absolutely hilarious. Sara who is coming off a bad “break-up” isn’t so jaded that she comes across as bitter, angry or insecure. She’s got gumption! She knows what she wants and she knows how to go about getting it.

If a guy was drop-dead gorgeous but didn’t have a romantic side, he was only good for a fuck

Generally in my reading I’m not drawn to FemDom, so I’ll be honest when I tell you that I didn’t even realize that she was a Domme until the words began to appear in the book. I guess I completely missed that part when I was reading the synopsis! It didn’t change anything for me. In fact, it was perfect. The way that she exudes her power over Jack. WOW! I could have read a lot more of that. Seriously, way, way more.

And Jack, dear sweet loveable Jack

“What the hell is that?” She gaped at the rumpled, well-worn paper.
“It’s my flowchart.”

Jack is quite easily one of my favorite book boyfriends. The only thing going against him for me and I must remember that he is not real, was that he was submissive. Had he been a Dom, I think I would have been even more immersed in the story, forever lost in a fictitious man. He’s adorable, beyond adorable. What’s beyond adorable? I don’t even know I don’t have the words, but whatever that word is, he is that.
It wasn’t even ridiculous for me to read this…

He came. Exploded. Erupted. Bliss cascaded as jet after jet of burning cum flooded from him. And all the while, she whipped his cock. Whipped it into a frenzy. It was fucking sublime.

…as I usually find it to be, because I could just imagine it. Jet after jet, sure! Why not?! Is there more? I’d welcome that too. Seriously, I’ve not ever been so enamored or engrossed. It could be that he was so oblivious to ever hint or clue that Sara threw his way. Or that it was almost like reading about a real guy (in many ways, dare I say, a little like my husband, GASP!). He was sublime and he made me want more. I need more. I know that there won’t be more, but one can always hope.

Jack and Sara’s is a story that I could read over and over again and probably enjoy it the more times that I read it. The story is simple the plot equally so and its simplicity is what makes it so enjoyable. There’s nothing overly complex happening here. They just each want what they want and you get to enjoy the ride as they get there. If you’re not rooting for these two page after page, I’m sorry there is something wrong with you.

Simply put, I would highly, highly and did I say highly recommend this book. It most definitely is a book that I would read again and again. This is, without a doubt a must read!

The book is the third in a three part series, but can be read as a standalone. I’m actually pretty glad it is part of a set, the other characters were just as entertaining as Sara and Jack. While I may not get to them immediately, they are on my Wish List and I can’t wait to squeeze in sometime to get around to them. Whenever that maybe.

Oh and my absolute final word on this book;  that book cover!  That book cover is what started it all.  Anyone know who the model is?

Taming of the Prude – Esmae Browder

The Taming of the Prude: Book 3 in the Naughty Shakespeare Series – [kindle edition] .99¢
Some marriages begin with mutual trust and admiration. And some…well, some begin with the promise of a dowry and the taming of a wife. When saucy, headstrong Kate discovers that the man she’s just seduced in the courtyard is to be her future husband Petruchio, she is furious and vows to make sure that he never receives the dowry her father has promised him if he tames her! Instead, Kate begins a campaign to tame him and her methods are a little more adventurous than his. Unafraid of her sexuality, Petruchio’s wife uses all sort of devices to make sure he knows exactly who the boss is in their marriage is. But can they fight the sparks of love that threaten to tear their strong willed natures a part? And just who is taming who?

This fun, fast paced erotic tale based on Shakespeare’s comedy The Taming of the Shrew is the third book in Esmae Browder’s Naughty Shakespeare series.

Taming of the Prude is an erotic retelling of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, or if you’ve seen the movie; Kiss Me Kate. I’ve seen the movie, albeit years ago, and I’ve never read the play. I’m going to have to remedy that because this retelling while a very extreme version of the story, it reminded me how funny this story actually is.

Since I only had a general idea of what the story was about, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect out of this story. I guess I should say too that when I read any novella of this type, you never really know what you’re getting yourself into.

One thing this story absolutely is, is filthy. Great right?! That’s what we’re all here. Some short and sweet smut! So why didn’t I just love this story? I think it just overall wasn’t my cup of tea. The relationship between Kate and Tru isn’t so much Tru taming Kate as it is an expedition of sexual self-discovery for both characters. Not that, that is a problem, I guess I was thinking that it would closer to the original retelling, again I need to re-read the play.  I just wish that there had been more active taming, maybe in the vain of BDSM. That would have been great. As it is, there are some threesomes and some very hot scenes, of the one handed read variety. If that’s how you like your books, then I would highly recommend this story to you.   I wouldn’t recommend this as a love story in the least bit, but definitely a fun romp.

This book is part of a three series set and at the very end the author eludes to more coming. I kind of hope so, because I may be tempted to pick another one up.

Simon’s Back!! Rusty Nailed – Alice Clayton #BookReview #Review

Rusty Nailed (The Cocktail Series) – [Kindle Edition] $7.49

In this sequel to Wallbanger, fan favorites Caroline Reynolds and Simon Parker negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in Sausalito.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on an extended honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy-long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel. And with Simon, her hotshot photographer boyfriend, gallivanting all over the world for his job, the couple is heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. No complaints about the great reunion sex, though!

Then a trip back east to his childhood home has Simon questioning his nomadic lifestyle. He decides to be home more. A lot more. And he wants Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort out their relationship. Sure, more togetherness is a good thing—but does less traveling and working have to mean the other extreme? Apple pie and picket fences? With this second book in the Cocktail series, USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy confection of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!

Have you ever just wanted to read a book that was bubble gum wrapped around candy floss. I do. Sometimes it’s just nice to read a dirty book that’s all butterflies and unicorns. Nothing horrible is going to happen, not so much that it makes you want to pitch your kindle against the wall, because crap on a cracker, the damn characters just aren’t getting it together fast enough. But I digress.
I don’t remember where we last left Caroline and Simon, truthfully I didn’t care. All I knew was that dear sweet, sexy Simon was back again. This book gets a solid 4.5 from me because I what I would have liked is more Simon time. Maybe an entire chapter worth of Simon. I missed him. I wanted to know about all the wonderful things he was up to and what he was going to do to Caroline, but there wasn’t quite enough of it here for me. Don’t get me wrong though, Alice Clayton is still hilarious. She really knows how to make me laugh.

It was the best of times, it was the nakedest of times . . .

and she does give Simon more character development which was lovely, but it was all sandwiched in between a Caroline who isn’t quite the same woman anymore and yet wants to be the same as she was. I know she had to develop as a character, but I think that in parts, it was a little dragged out. Not that I didn’t absorb those pages like a sponge. I did. I’ll be damned I read that thing as quickly as I could, not because I wanted it to be over, but because of the laughter. Oh the laughter.

Trevor and the apostles in tow

Caroline’s best friends, Mimi and Sophia are back and better than ever (Ms Clayton, these two need their own books!). The dialogue between the girls is simply hysterical. I actually wish I had girlfriends just like them. I will even take Sophia’s fucked up love life. I wonder if Alice Clayton actually knows women like this?
If you want a quick, light, fluffy summer read, I HIGHLY recommend this book. Read the other one first if you haven’t because, well, you’re missing out on more Simon.
Oh and if you’re wondering about Clive. I don’t think it will spoil anything if I give you this little snippet:

“Fuck me—he’s got himself a harem,” I swore, and Simon could no longer contain his laughter.

If you’re wondering who the hell Clive is, go read the book!

A Demon & His Witch – Eva Langlais #review #book

Have you ever read a book and was just pleasantly surprised?  That was me just the other day as I read this wonderfully funny story of a Demon (Remy) and his Witch (Ysabel)…

A Demon And His Witch (Welcome To Hell Book 1) – [kindle edition] FREE for a limited time

Free for the month of June ONLY.

Burning alive is nothing compared to the heat of his touch.

There are better ways to break up with a girl than having her roasted at the stake as a witch. Is it any wonder Ysabel has trust issues? She got her revenge, though, and it only cost her a slightly tarnished soul.

Working for Lucifer isn’t all bad, until her ex-boyfriend escapes the bowels of Hell and she’s forced to team up with a womanizing demon to fetch the jerk back.

As a minion in Lucifer’s legion, Remy’s seen a lot of things, but nothing can prepare him for the witch with the acerbic tongue – and voluptuous figure. The more she pushes him away, the more determined he becomes to seduce her. However, what’s a poor demon to do when he accidentally falls in love and wants to keep her forever?

Welcome to Hell where you’re screwed if you do and damned if don’t. And just so you know, Lucifer has a special spot reserved for you…

As a reader of erotic novels I am not typically interested in paranormal stories.  I guess I enjoy a sense of realism when I read my fantasy.  This however proved to me how wrong I can be sometimes.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this.  Without knowing, I thought that this was going to be a stuffy read.  I picked it because it was short (a mere 158 pages).  I figured that I could power through it even if I didn’t like it.  As it turns out, this could have been longer and I would have been equally pleased with it.  It was such a fun light read.  Both of the main characters were equally entertaining.  In fact, all of the characters were thoroughly entertaining.

Remy our resident demon is a self-professed player.  He loves women, women love him.  Except Ysabel, but then again she hates all men.  His arrogance is beyond amusing

“Touch my balls with harmful intent and you’ll be tea-bagging them,” he warned. Stymied she had to ask. “What the hell does that mean?” An enigmatic smile graced his lips. It made more than her sex tingle, her tits joined the game too, hardening into points “Why don’t you touch them and find out?” “Pig.”
“I prefer the term rutting beast.

I mean really, he just made me laugh.

what is your type? No wait. Let me guess. Hard, plastic coated and jammed full of big D batteries.

and it was constant from beginning to end. He was just so funny.  Sometimes this can ruin any type of romance for a character, but the development in his relationship with Ysabel is so natural, that the moments when he is sweet, you forget about how much of cocky bastard he is.

Ysabel who is singularly motivated throughout is one of the most fun female characters I’ve read in a while.  She starts out bitter, stuffy and I thought a little unlikeable, though with good and understandable reason, but as she begins to soften towards Remy, you really begin to soften towards her.

I wish I had quotes for you, because she has some wonderfully dirty thoughts at times and her quick wit and come backs to Remy left me laughing out loud.  She was just so funny.  They all were.  It makes me want to read the entire series, which I am considering getting as soon as I can.

While there really isn’t a lot of sex in this book over all, the chemistry between Remy and Ysabel makes you feel as though there is.  They have quite a few moments of build up which is more than adaquet and while I wanted them to have more sex, truthfully it would have just been filler.  Yeah I can’t believe I said that.  I didn’t want more sex.  Who am I?

So, now I’m thinking about trying other books from this author.  Me, a paranormal reader, I would never have considered it, but after reading this I have to admit; I am intrigued.

Book Recommendations

As you may or may not know I have a Goodreads account.  I am frequently there checking out possible books to read, organizing my book lists etc, etc, etc I am constantly adding, adding and adding more books.

I was wondering though if there was a book or books that you would like to recommend for me to read?  It’s one thing to choose books based on goodreads recommendations, but I would love to hear from like minded readers and see what you think I would enjoy.

So while I appreciate any suggestions, I’ll let you know what I don’t like or rather I’m not interested in;

Rock Stars
Paranormal
Vampires
Werewolves
Wizards
M/M

Some College teens.  I prefer old college if any at all.

While I prefer love/romance to be a focus, I know that’s not always the case.  In those instances, if the book is simply good, I believe that should be enough and I’m willing to give it a shot.

So… What do you suggest?

Maliciously Obedient (Obedient Series #1) – Kindle edition FREE

This is one of my favorite series and I just think that anyone who loves a good romantic story, should read it.  It was a real page turner from me and from the beginning to the end I was wrapped!  I don’t know how long this will be free, but if you were thinking about getting it before, now if your chance.

Lydia Charles is determined to show her boss that getting caught reading Fifty Shades of Grey in the parking lot can help the company bottom line. Preparing for the biggest work project of her life, a romance book marketing campaign, she never expected that an actual romance would interfere with the business of romance. Tough and cynical, her last office relationship exploded in her face. No man was worth it.

Until Matt Jones, a boss she didn’t know she had – a boss who took the Director of Social Media job she was gunning for – swept her out of a promotion and off her feet. Lydia didn’t want to respect him, much less like him – but her body had a mind of its own, turning traitor in a chance encounters. After a steamy elevator episode that left her missing her panties – and most of her resolve – she decided that maybe it was time to let him get inside her – in more ways than one.

When he closed off to her unexpectedly, hurt feelings unleash a torrent of tension, with his order to follow his command triggering malicious obedience – following the exact letter of the law – in her. Interest from Matt’s eccentric millionaire friend Jeremy left her hot and bothered, with threesome dreams that made her want to obey – but in the bedroom. Not the boardroom.

What Lydia didn’t know was that “Matt” was really Michael Bournham, the CEO of the company, part of an undercover reality television stunt. Keeping his hands off Lydia’s luscious curves was becoming an exercise in restraint, but what was harder? Keeping his heart from her. For Michael, Lydia’s malicious obedience ignited a night of unbridled passion in the office that made him forget everything – including the rolling cameras – until it was too late.

Sometimes the best way to break the rules is to follow them…
