☛ ☛ **NEW BOOK RELEASE TODAY: On the Record – K.A Linde** ☚ ☚

It’s a great day for new releases and I have another one for you.  This book is also part of a series.  The first book  Off the Record (The Record Series Book 1) – [kindle edition] $3.99 (also on Kindle Unlimited), came out what felt like an eternity ago (April 2014…really not that long ago).  I don’t even think that I had this review site up and running yet.  I do remember that I really liked the book.  A lot.  And I do remember that it ended on a cliff hanger, so I am beyond pleased that there is more story to tell and that it’s finally out to tell.

Read on for the synopsis of book 2 in the The Record Series: On the Record

On the Record (The Record Series Book 2) – [kindle edition] $3.99

For political reporter Liz Dougherty, election day—a day of looking toward the future and saying goodbye to the past—seems like a fitting time to start a new relationship. But feelings for her former flame still linger…

I think it’s time for me to organize my reading list over at goodreads, because it I have a ton of books to get to.

Possessed by You (Torn Trilogy Book 1) – [kindle edition] $2.99
Releasing control is relief…

I was warned about men like Brett Maclean.

He was dark and thrilling, intense and controlling. And he captivated me from the very start. He unleashed something inside of me like no other. His bad rep and troubled past drew me to him like gasoline feeding a flame.

With just one taste, I felt the danger in him, the uncontrollable power that left me breathless. The passion consumed me. Fast and hard.

Temptation couldn’t guard my heart. I should have known a man of such raw and wild desires came with competition.

I love it when I write notes to myself about a book: Is this book porn? Is there an actual story. Apparently even though I was 25% way (a quarter people!) there was still no plot. Not beyond the fact that we’ve established that Brett wants to fuck the hell out of Evvie.

I was so excited to reads this book. The premise sounded, well vague to say the least, but sometimes they are and you come across a gem. I wouldn’t say that was the case with this book. Instead I would say that this is a fuck-fest with a possible plot snuck in there somewhere. You just have to read between the lines. Maybe not between them, maybe you should make up your own plot. I ultimately felt like that’s what I had to do, because the first half of the story is an absolute test of how much sex you can handle, story be damned. As it turns out, I actually like a storyline when I read a book. I also like to have just a little bit of context when I am introduced to characters.

I felt like when I started this book, I was plod right in the middle of a story. I kept wondering if I had accidentally skipped directly to book two, but it turns out this is indeed book one of a three part series.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, isn’t this the very reason you read these types of books, for the sheer smuttiness of it all? While this is correct, there is something a little more important than fucking in a story for me. Yes, it’s true, I require a story. It’s why we’re all here right?  We want the sex to have a little bit of purpose, a reason, dare I be so bold.  Here it just felt like it was two people going at it at every possible chance.  There wasn’t much emotion behind it, that deep connection between the two characters isn’t as tangible as your made to believe, its all disconnected.

The problem I think here is the pace. Like the author is desperate for you to be on board with their relationship and the only way that she feels that she can get you there is the copious amounts of sex that they have.  It just doesn’t work.  It’s too much.  Everything is an onslaught and its such a shame because if the story was slowed down and paced more evenly, then I would have been totally on board with Evvie and Brett.

The other problem that I have, is some of the ridiculous dialogue and Brett’s reference to Evvie as “Lover”.  I’m sure I’m not hearing it in the intended voice, rather  I have the voice of saying Rachel Dratch (from SNL) saying “Luvah” stuck in my. Its terrible.  And then there is incessant smirking and being smug that Brett is always doing.  Why can’t he just smile.  Is he really that smug.  That in no way endears me to him.  In fact it’s incredibly off putting, especially when it seems to be the only way to express a smile that spreads across his lips.

I am willing to give the series a shot though, I’m going to read the second book and see where these two are headed. I’m either a glutton for punishment or a complete moron, but I’m fully committed to seeing the series through, even if it’s for all of the sheer fucking that i,m i’ll be exposed to.

Knight & Day – Kitty French #BookReview #Review #Eroticread #KnightTrilogy

Knight and Day (The Lucien Knight Erotic Trilogy Book 3) – [kindle edition] $4.70

Kara Brookes hates liars.

Dylan Day hasn’t told the truth from the moment his plane touched down in Ibiza.

It’s a recipe for disaster.

Romantic, emotional and intensely erotic, Knight & Day is the thrilling final installment of the USA Today bestselling Knight Series from Kitty French.

Lucien and Sophie are back, and have set up camp on the sun-drenched isle of Ibiza for the opening of the latest of Lucien’s strictly adult clubs.
They’re joined for the summer by Sophie’s best friend Kara, and Dylan Day, Lucien’s newly appointed club manager.
The laid back, smokin’ hot surf guy from California seems almost too good to be true… but there’s no smoke without fire.

It’s going to be a long hot summer of love, lust, lies and wedding bells. But who will get their happy ever after?

Knight & Day is the thrilling conclusion to the USA Today best-selling Knight erotic trilogy. Whilst it can be read as a stand alone story, it’s best enjoyed as the finale of the set.

This is another case of, why did I wait so long to read this book?

The final book in the Knight (Erotic) Trilogy, isn’t so much focused on Lucien Knight and Sophie (whatwasherlastnameagain), but rather their story blended with a mysterious Dylan Day and Kara Brooke.

The entire thing is set in Ibiza which was refreshing, for me at least, especially since it’s Ibiza season. The only down side was that it didn’t have any of that Ibiza vibe. It could have been set in Malibu, Miami or Majorca for all I cared. I usually like it when a location become a part of the story. Here it was just a place. Random beach with boat port, would have been more than enough… but I digress and it’s definitely not important. What is important here is the story and it’s told wonderfully.

Kara is a no-nonsense, says what she likes (literally at times) and has a no hold bars attitude. She’s paired with a man (Dylan) with a troubled past and rather than a cringe inducing tale of lies and hidden truths, it’s a fun romp with some self-discovery, forgiveness and acceptance.

You can’t help but like Dylan throughout even though he’s holding back, because he’s just so fucking nice.

“Go home Kara. Go home and be happy, because you deserve to be more than anyone else I know. Go home knowing that I truly fucking loved you. You didn’t get it wrong. I didn’t fool you, and the next man who loves you won’t automatically be lying to you. He’ll be the luckiest guy in the world.  Don’t run away from love because of what I did. I lied about many things, but never once about how I felt about you.”

I really felt sorry for him. I wondered why everything had to be so fucked up for him because he didn’t deserve it all. You really wanted him to just have it all out of the gate.  It also helped that he was a lovely filthy talker!

…Or maybe you want me to tell you how hard my cock is for you, and how it’s actually fucking hurting me because I want to screw you so badly?

Lucien and Sophie also have a nice little wrap up. I swear you could tell me about a long weekend with these two and I couldn’t get enough. Well, that may be more true about Lucien. Sophie tends to come across a little boring, though I know that she’s not meant to. These two deserve to have the happy ending and they definitely get it here.

I know that it took me a long time, but I’m really glad that I got to finish up the series. And if you’ve been waiting, don’t wait any more. It’s worth the money. Kitty French really knows how to write a story, so I’m really looking forward to any future stories from her.

Making Over Maris – Sabrina York ***Highly recommended read!!*** #BookReview #Review #ContempRomance

Making Over Maris: 3 (Wired) – [kindle edition] $5.78

Wired Series, Book Three

When über-nerd Jack asks Sara to make him more attractive to women, she
can’t say no–even though it’s an impossible task. He’s shaggy and doughy
and hopelessly inappropriate. He has no style or emotional intelligence
but he’s a good person. And a great friend. What Sara never expects?
Beneath all that fur and geekiness is a steamy hunk just waiting to
emerge.

Jack takes Sara’s regimen very seriously, working out and losing weight
until he feels like a new

man. He even complies with her command to shave his beard–because Jack
didn’t ask Sara to make him over so he would be attractive to other women.
He only wants to be attractive to her. They go on a series of fake dates,
each hotter and more sinful than the last. It’s not long before Sara
discovers Jack’s secret desire to be dominated and what began as an
arrangement becomes something amazing–something that could be real.

Inside Scoop: Our hero appreciates Femdom–with the right woman. Our hero
doesn’t appreciate perfect strangers grabbing his junk. Ask nicely first,
ladies!

This book was simply marvelous. I loved it from the first line to the last. I wish I could give it 10 stars, because I don’t think that I’ve enjoyed a book this much in quite a while. The story is funny and the dialogue between all of the characters is marvelous.

Oh boy! Oh, boy, oh boy, oh boy. I’d been holding on to this book on my Wish List on Amazon for quite sometime. I had a few hesitations about picking it up because of the price tag; $5.78 for a 200 page book. But, there was is a book challenge at stake, and I jumped at the chance to get it. Price tag be damned! I shouldn’t have held back. I should have gotten the book the first that I came across it, because this my friends is a marvelous story of a Geek and the love of his life. I don’t want to spoil this story for anyone because I think that everyone should read this story. If I could lend it to everyone I would. If I could have strategically highlighted every line on every page. I would. It’s that good. It’s page after page of entertaining humorous, affectionate, comical, love and romance.

I loved it from the first line to the last. The characters are absolutely hilarious. Sara who is coming off a bad “break-up” isn’t so jaded that she comes across as bitter, angry or insecure. She’s got gumption! She knows what she wants and she knows how to go about getting it.

If a guy was drop-dead gorgeous but didn’t have a romantic side, he was only good for a fuck

Generally in my reading I’m not drawn to FemDom, so I’ll be honest when I tell you that I didn’t even realize that she was a Domme until the words began to appear in the book. I guess I completely missed that part when I was reading the synopsis! It didn’t change anything for me. In fact, it was perfect. The way that she exudes her power over Jack. WOW! I could have read a lot more of that. Seriously, way, way more.

And Jack, dear sweet loveable Jack

“What the hell is that?” She gaped at the rumpled, well-worn paper.
“It’s my flowchart.”

Jack is quite easily one of my favorite book boyfriends. The only thing going against him for me and I must remember that he is not real, was that he was submissive. Had he been a Dom, I think I would have been even more immersed in the story, forever lost in a fictitious man. He’s adorable, beyond adorable. What’s beyond adorable? I don’t even know I don’t have the words, but whatever that word is, he is that.
It wasn’t even ridiculous for me to read this…

He came. Exploded. Erupted. Bliss cascaded as jet after jet of burning cum flooded from him. And all the while, she whipped his cock. Whipped it into a frenzy. It was fucking sublime.

…as I usually find it to be, because I could just imagine it. Jet after jet, sure! Why not?! Is there more? I’d welcome that too. Seriously, I’ve not ever been so enamored or engrossed. It could be that he was so oblivious to ever hint or clue that Sara threw his way. Or that it was almost like reading about a real guy (in many ways, dare I say, a little like my husband, GASP!). He was sublime and he made me want more. I need more. I know that there won’t be more, but one can always hope.

Jack and Sara’s is a story that I could read over and over again and probably enjoy it the more times that I read it. The story is simple the plot equally so and its simplicity is what makes it so enjoyable. There’s nothing overly complex happening here. They just each want what they want and you get to enjoy the ride as they get there. If you’re not rooting for these two page after page, I’m sorry there is something wrong with you.

Simply put, I would highly, highly and did I say highly recommend this book. It most definitely is a book that I would read again and again. This is, without a doubt a must read!

The book is the third in a three part series, but can be read as a standalone. I’m actually pretty glad it is part of a set, the other characters were just as entertaining as Sara and Jack. While I may not get to them immediately, they are on my Wish List and I can’t wait to squeeze in sometime to get around to them. Whenever that maybe.

Oh and my absolute final word on this book;  that book cover!  That book cover is what started it all.  Anyone know who the model is?

**Spoilerish review**

I’m writing this particular note while half way through this story which so far has just pissed me the fuck off. First of all, as half pinoy, I am insulted. My mother is a Filipino and while I was raised in a mixed house hold, I know enough about the culture and its people to know that the bullshit mother, cousin and leading lady in this story really put a negative spin on a nation of some of the most amazing people in the entire world.

I was going to start off by editing out the top comment, but decided that I didn’t want to do that because it embraces completely how I was feeling about the book when I thought that I wouldn’t be able to finish it. But, I was able to finish it and I’m ready to give you my thoughts.

First thought, I stored 40 quotes half of which I left notes on. This is based on me going back and looking at my stored quotes on the Kindle Amazon site. Wonderful feature by the way. Quotes are usually handy when I’m trying to remember what I think are relevant and important aspects to a story that I want to share. With this book though, I was just getting so annoyed and frustrated with Reagan Cabatu that I just wanted to vent about her. So here goes.

Let’s back up just a little bit here first, book one Serving the Billionaire had the makings of being a sweet romantic story of two people finding each other, albeit in a fairly unique manner and developing and nurturing that love. Book 2 was, I thought, going to expand upon that. It didn’t. I give you no illusions, this book is down-right depressing roughly 65% of the time. That seems high right? I’m basing that % on where I was located in the book. What bothered me most that this girl, was her overwhelming negative outlook on everything.

I knew the job wouldn’t last—I would mess up eventually, and get fired, or they would go out of business, or the building would burn down in a fire…

And this continues throughout most of the first half of the book.

Dreams were dangerous. They gave you big ideas; they made you think that your life could be bigger, more meaningful, than was actually possible. I had spent my entire life deliberately tamping down my dreams, like useless soil underfoot.

I didn’t know how much I could take of her. She was so fucking depressing. She had not one ray of sunshine in her life. The man that she clearly cared about a great deal wasn’t enough to bring her out of her funk. I didn’t even know why I was bothering or why she was. It seem like she could ever come out of it.
I was completely put off by some of the sequence of events. She has a trip back home at one point and while it’s supposed to be significant, it further proved that she had no idea of who she was. She even has this weird encounter with an ex and it just left me feeling awkward and annoyed.

We were fooling ourselves, of course. Too much time had passed. We had lost our old intimacy, and would never get it back. But it was nice to pretend for a while

By this point, I was ready to leave Reagan in the dust. Fuck it. But then we get to hear from Carter.

Initially Carter’s story doesn’t start out any better, but with an encounter with Sadie, Reagan’s best friend, the tide finally turns and the story shifts from bleak sadness to, a more uplifting love story. Like I thought we were initially going to be reading.

One of my favorite things about Carter is the pet names he has for Reagan. He would be what I imagine a Daddy dom to be like. He calls Reagan his Little Girl and for the first time it didn’t feel creepy or weird. His endearment towards her was heartfelt and genuine. This whole book should have been his story. I rooted for him so much. I just wanted him to be so happy and it felt like the author wanted it for him too

I wanted to go outside and call her, listen to her voice on the other end of the line, and tell her that I loved her and never wanted to be apart.

He was also charming and funny, which just endears you to him more.

“Nice place,” she said, looking around as I led her into the living room. “Not as over-the-top as I expected.” “What did you have in mind?” I asked. “Oil paintings of myself all over the wall? Gold-plated marble statues of nude women?”

“You just don’t understand the struggle of the white man,” I told her

I would love to hear more about Carter (and Reagan). I wish the story had been told differently. I had never anticipated such negativity from Reagan so it was disarming and disappointing. This could have been a 4.5 story. Instead it gets an iffy 3.5. If you can get past a severely depressed woman, then you’re golden. Read it and relish in its simplicity. If you can’t, well, then pass on this. Or skip to Carters story, though for $1.99, well that I’ll leave you to ponder.

Ella Dominguez – 99¢ All Books

One of my favorite authors of all time has all of her books on sale for 99¢.  If you have just been thinking about getting her books, today is the perfect chance for you to pick up a novel or 4.  My recommendations include;

The Art of Dominance series

The Complete Trilogy:
The Art of Submission (Book 1)
The Art of Domination (Book 2)
The Art of Control (Book 3)

Approximately 315K words or about 950 pages. Contains moderate BDSM themes, detailed sexual encounters, mild edge play, and is intended for mature audiences and readers 18+. Not for the fainthearted.

Romantic, erotic, deeply emotional, and humorous.

This is the story of Isabel, a shy, submissive artist with an abusive past and a dominant streak, and Dylan, an entrepreneur, art collector with singular tastes in women and sex, and a sordid past in the BDSM lifestyle.

This is the tale of their love for each other, their trials in a world that offers nothing but obstacles, and the collision of two dynamic characters who struggle with their dominant and submissive tendencies and seek control in all things.

Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1)

Warning: This is neither a conventional romance nor a traditional love story. There are no hearts and flowers on the pages of this book. The heroine doesn’t always make wise choices and though I’ve tried to make her strong, she’s often times weak in the face of the fierce hero. The hero is not a knight in a shining armor. He’s broken and frequently cruel, and what every woman in the real world should avoid. What’s contained in this book isn’t real – it’s fiction; dark, depraved and decadent make-believe. Contains detailed sexual encounters, profanity, uncomfortable situation, and erotic elements including voyeurism, oral and anal. INTENDED FOR READERS 18+.

Obsession, possession, resilience, insanity…

Seeking solitude and reprieve from her past failed relationships, Elsa begins her life anew in Richmond, hoping to find the change that she so desperately needs. Things are looking up for her, a new job, new friends… a fresh start.

But Victor has different plans for her. From the moment he heard her voice and set his eyes on Elsa, she became next on his to-do list; his Chapter 8. A well-known and respected criminal profiler, his mind is as dark as the people he hunts down. It takes one to know one, after all. Under the guise of making his subjects stronger, he intends to break Elsa down using everything in his arsenal, including pleasure, pain, humiliation, and things unspeakable. Everyone is fair game in his book and he discriminates against no one when he chooses his test subjects.

Lonely, still on the mend from a bad break-up and longing for sexual attention, Elsa consents to an odd proposition, unaware of Victor’s plans. However, she can’t be broken so easily and what he puts her through only fuels the fire burning within her, a flame that begins to blaze out of control as she becomes obsessed with everything about Victor and peeling back his cruel layers in search of the real man hiding beneath his heartless facade.

In Victor’s world, there is no such thing as happily ever after and Chapter 8 proves to be an infuriating challenger when she flips the tables on his selfish and twisted game, a game they both may end up losing their hearts and minds over.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with all of her books so far and I just know that she has more amazing things to come.  Everyone should give her a shot, she is a really gifted writer!
