Making Over Maris: 3 (Wired) – [kindle edition] $5.78

Wired Series, Book Three

When über-nerd Jack asks Sara to make him more attractive to women, she
can’t say no–even though it’s an impossible task. He’s shaggy and doughy
and hopelessly inappropriate. He has no style or emotional intelligence
but he’s a good person. And a great friend. What Sara never expects?
Beneath all that fur and geekiness is a steamy hunk just waiting to
emerge.

Jack takes Sara’s regimen very seriously, working out and losing weight
until he feels like a new

man. He even complies with her command to shave his beard–because Jack
didn’t ask Sara to make him over so he would be attractive to other women.
He only wants to be attractive to her. They go on a series of fake dates,
each hotter and more sinful than the last. It’s not long before Sara
discovers Jack’s secret desire to be dominated and what began as an
arrangement becomes something amazing–something that could be real.

Inside Scoop: Our hero appreciates Femdom–with the right woman. Our hero
doesn’t appreciate perfect strangers grabbing his junk. Ask nicely first,
ladies!

This book was simply marvelous. I loved it from the first line to the last. I wish I could give it 10 stars, because I don’t think that I’ve enjoyed a book this much in quite a while. The story is funny and the dialogue between all of the characters is marvelous.

Oh boy! Oh, boy, oh boy, oh boy. I’d been holding on to this book on my Wish List on Amazon for quite sometime. I had a few hesitations about picking it up because of the price tag; $5.78 for a 200 page book. But, there was is a book challenge at stake, and I jumped at the chance to get it. Price tag be damned! I shouldn’t have held back. I should have gotten the book the first that I came across it, because this my friends is a marvelous story of a Geek and the love of his life. I don’t want to spoil this story for anyone because I think that everyone should read this story. If I could lend it to everyone I would. If I could have strategically highlighted every line on every page. I would. It’s that good. It’s page after page of entertaining humorous, affectionate, comical, love and romance.

I loved it from the first line to the last. The characters are absolutely hilarious. Sara who is coming off a bad “break-up” isn’t so jaded that she comes across as bitter, angry or insecure. She’s got gumption! She knows what she wants and she knows how to go about getting it.

If a guy was drop-dead gorgeous but didn’t have a romantic side, he was only good for a fuck

Generally in my reading I’m not drawn to FemDom, so I’ll be honest when I tell you that I didn’t even realize that she was a Domme until the words began to appear in the book. I guess I completely missed that part when I was reading the synopsis! It didn’t change anything for me. In fact, it was perfect. The way that she exudes her power over Jack. WOW! I could have read a lot more of that. Seriously, way, way more.

And Jack, dear sweet loveable Jack

“What the hell is that?” She gaped at the rumpled, well-worn paper.
“It’s my flowchart.”

Jack is quite easily one of my favorite book boyfriends. The only thing going against him for me and I must remember that he is not real, was that he was submissive. Had he been a Dom, I think I would have been even more immersed in the story, forever lost in a fictitious man. He’s adorable, beyond adorable. What’s beyond adorable? I don’t even know I don’t have the words, but whatever that word is, he is that.
It wasn’t even ridiculous for me to read this…

He came. Exploded. Erupted. Bliss cascaded as jet after jet of burning cum flooded from him. And all the while, she whipped his cock. Whipped it into a frenzy. It was fucking sublime.

…as I usually find it to be, because I could just imagine it. Jet after jet, sure! Why not?! Is there more? I’d welcome that too. Seriously, I’ve not ever been so enamored or engrossed. It could be that he was so oblivious to ever hint or clue that Sara threw his way. Or that it was almost like reading about a real guy (in many ways, dare I say, a little like my husband, GASP!). He was sublime and he made me want more. I need more. I know that there won’t be more, but one can always hope.

Jack and Sara’s is a story that I could read over and over again and probably enjoy it the more times that I read it. The story is simple the plot equally so and its simplicity is what makes it so enjoyable. There’s nothing overly complex happening here. They just each want what they want and you get to enjoy the ride as they get there. If you’re not rooting for these two page after page, I’m sorry there is something wrong with you.

Simply put, I would highly, highly and did I say highly recommend this book. It most definitely is a book that I would read again and again. This is, without a doubt a must read!

The book is the third in a three part series, but can be read as a standalone. I’m actually pretty glad it is part of a set, the other characters were just as entertaining as Sara and Jack. While I may not get to them immediately, they are on my Wish List and I can’t wait to squeeze in sometime to get around to them. Whenever that maybe.

Oh and my absolute final word on this book;  that book cover!  That book cover is what started it all.  Anyone know who the model is?

**Spoilerish review**

I’m writing this particular note while half way through this story which so far has just pissed me the fuck off. First of all, as half pinoy, I am insulted. My mother is a Filipino and while I was raised in a mixed house hold, I know enough about the culture and its people to know that the bullshit mother, cousin and leading lady in this story really put a negative spin on a nation of some of the most amazing people in the entire world.

I was going to start off by editing out the top comment, but decided that I didn’t want to do that because it embraces completely how I was feeling about the book when I thought that I wouldn’t be able to finish it. But, I was able to finish it and I’m ready to give you my thoughts.

First thought, I stored 40 quotes half of which I left notes on. This is based on me going back and looking at my stored quotes on the Kindle Amazon site. Wonderful feature by the way. Quotes are usually handy when I’m trying to remember what I think are relevant and important aspects to a story that I want to share. With this book though, I was just getting so annoyed and frustrated with Reagan Cabatu that I just wanted to vent about her. So here goes.

Let’s back up just a little bit here first, book one Serving the Billionaire had the makings of being a sweet romantic story of two people finding each other, albeit in a fairly unique manner and developing and nurturing that love. Book 2 was, I thought, going to expand upon that. It didn’t. I give you no illusions, this book is down-right depressing roughly 65% of the time. That seems high right? I’m basing that % on where I was located in the book. What bothered me most that this girl, was her overwhelming negative outlook on everything.

I knew the job wouldn’t last—I would mess up eventually, and get fired, or they would go out of business, or the building would burn down in a fire…

And this continues throughout most of the first half of the book.

Dreams were dangerous. They gave you big ideas; they made you think that your life could be bigger, more meaningful, than was actually possible. I had spent my entire life deliberately tamping down my dreams, like useless soil underfoot.

I didn’t know how much I could take of her. She was so fucking depressing. She had not one ray of sunshine in her life. The man that she clearly cared about a great deal wasn’t enough to bring her out of her funk. I didn’t even know why I was bothering or why she was. It seem like she could ever come out of it.
I was completely put off by some of the sequence of events. She has a trip back home at one point and while it’s supposed to be significant, it further proved that she had no idea of who she was. She even has this weird encounter with an ex and it just left me feeling awkward and annoyed.

We were fooling ourselves, of course. Too much time had passed. We had lost our old intimacy, and would never get it back. But it was nice to pretend for a while

By this point, I was ready to leave Reagan in the dust. Fuck it. But then we get to hear from Carter.

Initially Carter’s story doesn’t start out any better, but with an encounter with Sadie, Reagan’s best friend, the tide finally turns and the story shifts from bleak sadness to, a more uplifting love story. Like I thought we were initially going to be reading.

One of my favorite things about Carter is the pet names he has for Reagan. He would be what I imagine a Daddy dom to be like. He calls Reagan his Little Girl and for the first time it didn’t feel creepy or weird. His endearment towards her was heartfelt and genuine. This whole book should have been his story. I rooted for him so much. I just wanted him to be so happy and it felt like the author wanted it for him too

I wanted to go outside and call her, listen to her voice on the other end of the line, and tell her that I loved her and never wanted to be apart.

He was also charming and funny, which just endears you to him more.

“Nice place,” she said, looking around as I led her into the living room. “Not as over-the-top as I expected.” “What did you have in mind?” I asked. “Oil paintings of myself all over the wall? Gold-plated marble statues of nude women?”

“You just don’t understand the struggle of the white man,” I told her

I would love to hear more about Carter (and Reagan). I wish the story had been told differently. I had never anticipated such negativity from Reagan so it was disarming and disappointing. This could have been a 4.5 story. Instead it gets an iffy 3.5. If you can get past a severely depressed woman, then you’re golden. Read it and relish in its simplicity. If you can’t, well, then pass on this. Or skip to Carters story, though for $1.99, well that I’ll leave you to ponder.

Ella Dominguez – 99¢ All Books

One of my favorite authors of all time has all of her books on sale for 99¢.  If you have just been thinking about getting her books, today is the perfect chance for you to pick up a novel or 4.  My recommendations include;

The Art of Dominance series

The Complete Trilogy:
The Art of Submission (Book 1)
The Art of Domination (Book 2)
The Art of Control (Book 3)

Approximately 315K words or about 950 pages. Contains moderate BDSM themes, detailed sexual encounters, mild edge play, and is intended for mature audiences and readers 18+. Not for the fainthearted.

Romantic, erotic, deeply emotional, and humorous.

This is the story of Isabel, a shy, submissive artist with an abusive past and a dominant streak, and Dylan, an entrepreneur, art collector with singular tastes in women and sex, and a sordid past in the BDSM lifestyle.

This is the tale of their love for each other, their trials in a world that offers nothing but obstacles, and the collision of two dynamic characters who struggle with their dominant and submissive tendencies and seek control in all things.

Grace Street (Chapter 8, #1)

Warning: This is neither a conventional romance nor a traditional love story. There are no hearts and flowers on the pages of this book. The heroine doesn’t always make wise choices and though I’ve tried to make her strong, she’s often times weak in the face of the fierce hero. The hero is not a knight in a shining armor. He’s broken and frequently cruel, and what every woman in the real world should avoid. What’s contained in this book isn’t real – it’s fiction; dark, depraved and decadent make-believe. Contains detailed sexual encounters, profanity, uncomfortable situation, and erotic elements including voyeurism, oral and anal. INTENDED FOR READERS 18+.

Obsession, possession, resilience, insanity…

Seeking solitude and reprieve from her past failed relationships, Elsa begins her life anew in Richmond, hoping to find the change that she so desperately needs. Things are looking up for her, a new job, new friends… a fresh start.

But Victor has different plans for her. From the moment he heard her voice and set his eyes on Elsa, she became next on his to-do list; his Chapter 8. A well-known and respected criminal profiler, his mind is as dark as the people he hunts down. It takes one to know one, after all. Under the guise of making his subjects stronger, he intends to break Elsa down using everything in his arsenal, including pleasure, pain, humiliation, and things unspeakable. Everyone is fair game in his book and he discriminates against no one when he chooses his test subjects.

Lonely, still on the mend from a bad break-up and longing for sexual attention, Elsa consents to an odd proposition, unaware of Victor’s plans. However, she can’t be broken so easily and what he puts her through only fuels the fire burning within her, a flame that begins to blaze out of control as she becomes obsessed with everything about Victor and peeling back his cruel layers in search of the real man hiding beneath his heartless facade.

In Victor’s world, there is no such thing as happily ever after and Chapter 8 proves to be an infuriating challenger when she flips the tables on his selfish and twisted game, a game they both may end up losing their hearts and minds over.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with all of her books so far and I just know that she has more amazing things to come.  Everyone should give her a shot, she is a really gifted writer!

Playing the Game – M.Q. Barber #bookreview #review

Playing the Game (Neighborly Affection) – [Kindle Edition] $3.03

Neighborly Affection, #1
She expects dinner with neighbors, but gets sex with a side of safewords.

Mechanical engineer Alice still drools over her sexy neighbors a year after she’s moved in. She can’t decide whether they’re roommates or partners, but either way, they spark a wanton desire in her that has her imagination–and vibrator–working overtime.

Henry, director of everything around him, studies human nature and applies philosophies to his paintings as well as his relationships. Quirky, polite to a fault, and formal, he follows his own code of honor even when it means denying himself.

Flirtatious and playful, Jay needs stability, guidance, and to please others. His antics counterbalance Henry’s stuffy ways while he brings a level of vulnerability and fun to everything the trio does.

BDSM play with the enigmatic artist and flirtatious joker across the hall allows Alice to put aside the linear thought processes which have kept her unsatisfied and distant with other lovers. She must dismiss her preconception of love, sacrificing her independence, if she’s to find a permanent place in their beds and hearts.

CONTENT WARNING: Explicit sex, graphic language, BDSM, bondage, spanking, M/M/F menage.

82,000 Words

Ugh, I don’t know if I want to keep reading this story arc, even though I want to know how the relationship between these characters play out. The problem is here is that Henry really kinda ruined this story for me. It’s a shame, because I think that I would have liked it tons more if the tone of his voice wasn’t so annoying.

“But Alice herself is a delicate creature, a wondrous harmony of elements. Her pleasure depends on optimum timing, more so than ours, my boy.”

Henry is the alpha mature male, to both Alice and Jay and really that sounds great, until he opens his mouth and starts referring to Jay as ““Good boy” or “my boy” and Alice as “dear girl”. It wasn’t as though he would do it rarely either, it was all the time. He’s general way of instructing and speaking to them both was really out-of-place with the other characters. It was as though he came from Victorian, England. He’s a man out of his time.

Also the constant repetition of her safety, security and the incessant repeating of her safe-word;  We get it!!  In the real world, I understand the importance of affirmation.  In my fiction though, I don’t need to be repeatedly told something that I got the first 3 times you told me.  Just thinking about it is making me angry.

I don’t know and seriously doubt if I will spend the almost $8 finishing out this story. I know that I might end up throwing my kindle because if I have to hear Henry’s “voice” one more grating time. Maybe it would be safer for me to read another time.  Maybe it’s a mood type of story.

I will say that the scenes were pretty good, but I have to go back to the whole Henry thing, ugh, Henry!! You really ruined it for me.

I don’t have any complaints when it comes to Alice and Jay.  They had great chemistry really playing off each other well.  Admittedly the way that they are written they definitely need a third.  Someone to guide them through their submission and need for one another.  Had that man not been Henry, I would be begging to read more. Sadly, I don’t feel that way.

If you read this book, do so with caution.  Yes it has some steamy threesome scenese and really nicely laid out fantasies and I do honestly think that the series is going to get better (based on the developing relationship), but until I get passed my distaste of Henry, I doubt you’ll be getting a review out of me anytime soon.

99¢ Deals – Deckers Wood & G-Men Holiday Wrap

It’s great when (e)books go on sale. It’s even better when they are 99¢. I’ve not read either of these too, but Decker’s Wood sounds like it would be a quick fun read, so it may just be next on my list.

As for G-Men Holiday Wrap I’ve read all the books in the series and I didn’t even know this one existed, so I am very happy to read more about this crew of characters especially since I felt that some of the characters didn’t get enough development.  My fingers are crossed!

★★★★★

I have been rendered all but speechless after reading this book. I don’t even know where to start.
This book is without a doubt one of the filthiest I’ve ever read. It’s a story about a sub culture within the BDSM world, Pet Play. In this particular story, the two main characters pet play as dogs. There’s the simple part out of the way. Oh and it’s set in England and America and while that is not important. I still just wanted to be sure to point that out to you all.

I didn’t have a clue what to expect when I started reading this book. I had a feeling that it would be very erotic based on the subject matter and I was not disappointed. There is an actual story here and I won’t spoil or ruin it for anyone and it’s actually a good plot, because it helps move the characters and story a long nicely without it being complex.

What I liked the most about it, beyond the filth, were the characters. While I didn’t always connect completely with all of them, at times I didn’t care. What they were doing with each other was far more engrossing and entertaining.

‘Tino, I need you to … I need you to take care of me. Like a good Pet.

Tino seriously wants to fuck. In fact he wants to the fuck the hell out of Stella and whenever the scene had ended I had to take a few time outs because I was left that hot.

‘Your clit’s always a hard little pearl all pushed out and exposed for me, ready for me to play with.’

Sometimes it wasn’t even hot. Sometimes what they wanted to do with each other was so wickedly depraved, that because of the overall arc of the story, you would just go with the flow and not wonder; what the fuck?

And she would take his semen in her mouth, swallow it down to her centre, and perhaps she would rub some of it across her breasts and dabble it on her pulse points and carry his scent as a reminder to anyone who should wonder that she was his, and he had marked her as such.

As I was making my way through the final chapters, I was starting to get that, do I want more of this? feeling. Simple answer, yes I do. I want more Tino and Stella. I want to know what else they are up to. While Pet Play as a general topic for story telling may not be in my wheel house, these two are.

I definitely would recommend reading this if you’ve been maybe thinking about it and since it’s free, it’s definitely worth picking up and putting on your maybe list.  There are a lot of themes frolicking around the book beyond just the pet play, some include MMF / FFMF / Voyeurism and anal play to name but a few.  The original story was three books, but they’ve been nicely packaged into this one story for your reading pleasure.

Do Not Miss Out – Tangled (sale) – Emma Chase $2.99

When I say that this is a good book. I mean it. It’s so good. I just want everyone who likes reading smut to give this one a chance. It’s just so funny. Even though Drew is such a dick, you really end up rooting for him. It’s only $2.99 and I swear, it’ll be the best 299 pennies that you’ll spend.

Tangled (The Tangled Series) – [kindle edition] $2.99
In New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase’s sizzling and hilarious debut novel, Drew Evans—gorgeous, arrogant, irreverent, and irresistibly charming—meets his match in new colleague Kate Brooks.

Drew Evans is handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He’ll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

Sweet (& cheap) Addiction – Maya Banks #99¢

Every morning I check my multiple Amazon Wish Lists to see if anything has reduced in price… I like deals, what can I say?

Today was a good one:

Sweet Addiction – [Kindle edition] .99¢
He awakened a need within her. But now she belongs to another…

Cole is successful beyond his dreams. He can have any woman he wants, but there’s only one he can’t stop thinking about: his childhood sweetheart, Renita. He’s never forgotten his first taste of innocent love and the desire that consumed them-or the pain he brought upon her…

Her long-ago brush with submission awakened a longing in Ren that drove her to walk the darker edge of desire. She has become a beautiful woman at ease with her sexuality and unapologetic about her need for a dominant man. When Cole finds her again, he’s gutted that she belongs to another. Ren’s current master agrees to give her to Cole for a short time, but then she must return to his keeping. And though Cole agrees to this bargain, he knows he will never be able to let Ren go again…

I’ve read only one series from Maya Banks before (The Breathless Trilogy) and while I didn’t like all of the books, I thoroughly enjoyed Rush . There was just something about Gabe Hamilton!

This book was previously $9.99 and while I am not opposed to spending money on books, I just can’t spend $10 until I know for sure that I a). will like the writer or b). like the story.  I know when reading it’s kind of hit, miss and luck of the draw.  But as much as I like to read, I have to be fiscally mindful of how much I spend.  So anyway… when I saw that this was only 99¢, I didn’t even think about it!  Which is also why I wanted to be sure that I let everyone know that this book was on sale also.  If you’ve never read a Maya Banks novel, now is your chance.  Even if you end up not liking it, are you going to be mad that you wasted a dollar?  Well you might, but that’s besides the point.

Thank you Melanie Harlow – Yanked: A Frenched Novella #REVIEW #Spoilers

Something great happened last night.  I was perusing one of my favorite sites Smut Book Club and discovered that there is a follow up book to Frenched (currently on sale for 99¢).  I talked about the book here.

Yanked: A Frenched Novella [kindle edition $2.99] Mia Devine fell hard for Lucas Fournier after their magical week in Paris. But eight months later, the free-spirited half-French musician still hasn’t made any promises about their future. And as magnifique as long-distance phone sex is, nothing compares to the real thing.

Fed up with stolen weekends and lonely nights, Mia flies to New York armed with a list of reasons why they should take the next step, but an unexpected guest in Lucas’s apartment derails her plans. He’s been keeping secrets–worse, he claims he’s happy with the way things are.

Without the magic of Paris, can their mismatched love survive?

I am beyond tickled that there is a follow up book! I had it in my mind that Frenched was it. No more Lucas, no more Mia.  Luckily, that was not the case.  I can not wait to pick this up and read it.  In fact, I’m willing to put the book challenge on hold and consume it tonight if at all possible.
