“I’m not sure what you have been told about me, but I’m not nearly as bad as they make me out to be.” His deliciously deep voice carried a little bit of ego.
I’m sure you are exactly as bad as they make you out to be….
Brad De Luca is used to getting whatever and whomever he wants. The premier divorce attorney in town, he’s a playboy who’s bedded half the city–including his own clients. And when the newest intern at his firm poses a challenge, his seductive prowess goes into overdrive.
Pre-law student Julia Campbell is fresh off a failed engagement and happy with her new independence. Even if she weren’t warned away from Brad at every turn, she’d know he was bad news. The last thing she needs is a man who could destroy her job prospects, not to mention her innocence. But before she knows it, the incorrigible charmer has her under his spell. His deviant tastes plunge her deep into a forbidden world of sexual exploration…but her heart may not survive the fall.

Masked Innocence – [kindle edition] currently 99¢

The man was sinful. It wasn’t just the looks that made him dangerous, it was the cocky confidence that dominated every move, every touch. And the frustrating yet ecstatic fact about the whole package was that he could back it all up…
Julia Campbell never knows what to expect with win-at-all-costs Brad De Luca. And she’s starting to like it that way. She gave up safe, conventional relationships when she let the elite divorce attorney seduce her into his world. Now that he’s determined to strip her naked of every inhibition, she’s in danger of falling too deep and too fast.
But their affair begins to feel even more dangerous when a murder leaves a trail of suspicion that points straight to the mob…and Brad. Trusting a man with a bad reputation and a past full of secrets seems like a mistake. But when she’s forced to make a choice, the consequences will take her further than she could ever have imagined.

Red & Wolfe: (Erotic Retelling) Part 4 – Ella James

Red & Wolfe Part 4: An Erotic Fairy Tale – [kindle edition] $2.99

Return to Rabbit Island for the heart-pounding conclusion to Red and Wolfe’s story.

Don’t forget your extra panties – but this time, you might also want to bring your gun.

*Contains spoiler-ish type detail*

Okay, first of all, best $3 I’ve spent. I mean it!

Secondly; I love James Wolfe, I wish he was real. I wish I was Red and I was stuck on Rabbit Island, doing what rabbit’s do. This was such a good ending to the series. I was a little nervous about how it was going to end, but I was far from disappointed.

So let’s start here, I am strong advocate of a filthy mouthed alpha male character, James Wolfe aka Race embodies that to the core. Every time he said anything to Red, I was having a panty melting moment. He is up there as my number one (okay top 3) book boyfriends.

She has the nerve to look up at me impertinently, the naughty little cunt.

I know a lot of people aren’t fond of the “C” word, but I personally find it rather fabulous. It just sounds so naughty, taboo almost and every time he thought it or said it I would get so giddy, excited even, because everything about his character is exactly that. James Wolfe is deliciously dark, if we ended up knowing nothing about him, I think that I would have been okay with that. I didn’t need to know everything about him, other than he was hungry and desperate for Red.

You’re asking for a thorough fucking, Red. My cock, your pussy. Now

And speaking of Red, have I told you how much I enjoy her? She’s still spunky as ever in book 4. And while the whole owning her submissiveness was still up in the air for me even through the end, I’m just going to believe that she knew that, that was what Wolfe needed from her. I loved that Red had the spunky confidence to go up against Wolfe (sexually). She always challenged him, which I really liked. She wasn’t about to let someone she cared about so deeply just not take notice

I want you, Race. I have no idea why. Maybe I’m crazy. But when I think of leaving right now, I feel like I’d never stop looking back. So you want to fuck me?” I step toward the bedroom and curl my finger at him. “Come fuck me”.

One of the hardest things I struggle with when I read short stories like these is that, well, they’re short. Especially when you’re bringing together characters that you’re getting in this story. It feels like it’s a hard thing to balance the romance with the heat, but Ella James does a really fine job, in this last book. I worried that there would be heat than affection, but it’s the small moments that she throws in that makes it a really sweet love story of sorts

I reach Gertrude’s office last, and there he is—sitting in her rickety old desk chair, sleeping with my picture in his hand, as if he’s waiting just for me

I loved that there was a HEA, one that was believable too, considering the entire story as a whole. Ella has another fairy re-telling coming out sometime in August (Beast) and I am really looking forward to that.

I definitely recommend this story if you like face paced dirty reads it’s worth every penny in my opinion.

Keeping it Dark

Am I in a dark place?  I have to wonder because some of what I’ve read lately has had some seriously dark/taboo undertones.  In some cases, they aren’t undertones at all, but rather neon flashing lights.

Veiled Innocence – a fathers shocking hatred of his daughter
Pleasure – a husband who beats his wife
Bang – I can’t even go there it’s just so depressing
The Girl in 6E – oh the gruesomeness!! Though an inexplicably fun read!

Did I spoil myself with the light and fluffy romance novels?  I was going to read the In the Company of Killers series next, but I don’t know if I can go there.  Do I want more darkness?  When will I start seeing the light again?   Maybe this is what I need though?  A little time away from the millionaires, billionaires, CEOs, the playboys and perfect, oh so perfect men.   The gushy lovey story with the will they, well of course they will, predictability.  Am I sure that I want to give that up for a while longer?  Can I?

I think that I can.  In fact, I will just a little bit more.  There’s something nice about having a change.  As long as the change is in the Erotic wheel house… I won’t be straying to far from that in the least.  Well, not on purpose.   So here we go again… what’s in store for Sarai?!

Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers) [kindle edition – $2.99]

Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

This is their story…

Maybe after all of that, once I’ve gotten my fill, I’ll rummage my way through some friendly smut.  Well, maybe not too friendly.

**SPOILERS** Bang – e.k. Blair [Book Review – 2.5*]

Bang (Black Lotus #1) (The Black Lotus Series) – Amazon Kindle – $2.99

They say when you take revenge against another you lose a part of your innocence.
But I’m not innocent.
I haven’t been for a very long time.
My innocence was stolen from me. Taken was the life I was supposed to have. The soul I was born with. The ruby heart embedded in a life full of hopes and dreams.

Gone.
Vanished.

I never even had a choice.
I mourn that life. Mourn the what-ifs.
Until now.
I’m ready to take back what was always meant to be mine.

But every plan has a fatal flaw. Sometimes it’s the heart.

**Due to the dark and explicit nature of this book, it is recommended for mature audiences only.*

What the fuck!? This shit was dark. Actually that’s an understatement, it’s not just dark, it’s like a black hole of despair.

*SPOILERS*

I don’t think that I could write about this story without divulging major storyline elements. I feel like it would be simply impossible of me.  So I’m giving you a warning.  There are spoilers in my review.

Where shall I start? How about with the fact that I have never read an E.K Blair book before. I now don’t know if I will be able to again. Let me clarify though, this author, can write. Really well in fact. She certainly has a way of piecing a story together and while I still don’t know if I liked this or not, I can’t deny that it’s overall a really a devastatingly engaging story.

A little girl is ripped from her home, placed into the foster care system and has one of the most horrifying acts thrown against creating a severely broken and vengeful woman. She grows up with Pike, a brother (of sorts). Ends up marrying a man, Bennett, she doesn’t even love and begins an illicit affair with another Declan, all for the purposes of revenge.

So let’s see, I feel like I have to tell you that there is some serious and I mean really horrible acts of child abuse in this story. It was hard to read and honestly I was ready to put the book down because it was too much for me, but decided to just gloss over it quickly. I did that to understand the relationship more so between Pike and Elizabeth. In the grand scheme of things, I probably should have just put this story down and let it go. Looking back other than to implant some shock value, I don’t think it was necessary at all to go into that much detail. It was disgusting, it was sad, it was painful.

…and it didn’t get any better as the story continued into her present.  She actively brings a unknowing victim into her web of deceit and lies with the intent of her having her kill her husband.  The reason, well I won’t spoil that, was a little weak in my opinion.  The man though Declan McKinnon in a different type of story would have been the perfect type of Dom character.  He exudes control and power in his sexuality.  He had such presence each time he interacted with Nina and while I wasn’t completely invested in their relationship, I was invested in him and it was mainly because of things like this

“Now go back to your husband, but don’t you forget whose cum is inside of you right now,”

That’s were it all ended for me though.  With Declan.  I didn’t care enough about Nina, I was trying to.  I wanted to hate her husband as much as she did.  I wanted to cheerlead her cause, but she ultimately comes off as crazy.  Not the good, she shall over come, crazy either.  Just a bat shit lunatic, with a “brother” goading her whenever he’s allowed to.  It’s just depressing.  All of it.  Imagine if you will those made for TV, based on true events Hallmark movies.  It’s all just tragedy.  There are no winners here.  There’s no riding off into the sunset.

If you are interested in reading.  It does have quite a few good sex scenes.  There are elements of BDSM, but I don’t think that it’s really put to good use in this story at all.  I’m not sure it was being used as tool to help Nina/Elizabeth understand herself better or what.  If that was the intent, it was clearly lost on me.  There are so many elements to the life style that can help people feel a sense of liberation.  This story doesn’t do the lifestyle any justice.  Instead, it’s used as a poor mans therapy.   I think it would have been such a better story, if the focus was on Declan using BDSM to help free her from her past.  That would have been a far more engaging story.

There’s more to come from this series and I don’t know if I could do it.   I don’t understand after reading that ending, what there is left to tell.   There’s not even a little synopsis available to tell me what could possibly be coming next.

Red & Wolfe II: An Erotic Fairy Tale – Ella James [kindle edition]

The story continues…

“Return to Rabbit Island for the erotic second installment of Red & Wolfe, the sensual story of exiled playboy James Wolfe and down-and-out writer Sarah “Red” Ryder. This is an erotic fairy tale inspired by Little Red Riding Hood.”

Red & Wolfe, Part II: An Erotic Fairy Tale

I’ve been waiting really impatiently for this book. I mean seriously, I couldn’t wait. Could have sworn it was coming out the one day, turns out I was little early. Actually had a sense of relief when it showed up on my virtual shelf. Then to get to read it. That immense feeling of satisfaction. I was so happy reading this. So absolutely happy. That’s what I love about this series. It makes me crave more. It makes me want to say “everyone I’m going to need a few minutes, because this book that I am reading. This amazing filthy read, is going to be all I care about for a while.” It didn’t quite work out like that, but I consumed this story quickly and it did not disappoint.

As expected, this story is developing into top notch nasty. James Wolfe, loan wolf, man on a mission, embodies a few qualities that I like in my leading man. He’s unapologetic, he’s guarded, he’s mysterious and most of all he’s totally unabashedly horny. It’s not just reading about sex with him. He is really fucking Red. Ever word just comes to life, I couldn’t help but visualize him

He slides his button-up under my ass and pulls down his boxer-briefs, freeing an enormous, vein-striped, purple-headed fuck machine.

Holy shit! Seriously? I read this alone a couple of times, because I was so amused and appreciative of it’s description. I’ve read a lot, and until now nothing has grabbed my attention more when talking about a man’s anatomy. And this is just a small piece of what has to be some of the best written smut I have come across. There’s one particular scene that caught me so off guard that I wanted to be sure that I was clearly understanding what I was reading, so took active measures to slow down as I took it all in. All I will say is bath tub. Find that chapter. Read it, then read it again.

The story itself is evolving wonderfully too, some important information has come to light and I’m anxious to see how the next piece of the story plays out. Sadly June 16th (anticipated release date) seems so far. I don’t know how long this series is supposed to go on for, but quite honestly at this point, it could never end and I think that I would be happy. Stay on the island forever, I say!

You can pick this book up over at Amazon. It’s a measly 99¢ and worth every penny: Red & Wolfe, Part II: An Erotic Fairy Tale [kindle edition]
