Dair Book 3: The Wild Side Series (Finale) – R.K. Lilley #review #BookReview

DAIR (The Wild Side #3) – [kindle edition] $2.99

ARE YOU READY FOR THE TRUTH?

I’d started writing everything about her down. I didn’t want to forget.
The color of her hair. The depth of her eyes. The stubborn shape of her jaw. The way her lips shaped words with such expression. The way her voice made my chest ache. The way she gave advice beyond her years.
The way she listened like she cared about every word.
The way she made me feel—Alive.
Every curve and hollow of her body was recorded, in my mind, and now my hard drive.
There was a bit of truth in every lie, and even if it had only been fed to me in the smallest increments, I wanted, needed to remember the real Iris.
Because in the end, there was one irrefutable thing that I couldn’t deny.
Hostage or hustler, sinner or saint, whatever she was or wasn’t, whether she lied to my face or taunted me with hints of the truth, all of this seemed always to defer to the more pertinent fact at hand.
She was mine.
Inconceivably.
Undeniably.
Mine.

After yet another shocking discovery, followed by a disturbing letter, Dair is almost certain Iris has left his life for good. He tries his best to move on.
Easier said than done, and when an unexpected and dangerous opportunity arises for him to find out what happened to her, he doesn’t hesitate to take it.
As usual, with Iris, the answer leaves him more lost than the question.
Every revelation is shrouded in mystery, and every disclosure leaves Dair more in the dark than ever.
And when finally, the messy truth is revealed in its entirety, will he be ready for it?

This is the final installment in Iris and Dair’s story
This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

So here we have it folks, the final installment in The Wild Side series.
While this wasn’t my favorite of the three books, it was a good wrap up to the series. I worry that I had built it up so much in my mind as being fantastical that I think I was a little disappointed with the “why” Iris was doing what she was doing. I won’t give it away, but I’ll say that Turner’s suspicions were far more entertaining than the actual event.
Speaking of Turner, this guy needs his own story. I mean seriously, he is just hilarious.

…you’ve fallen for some wild young thing who was only taking her daddy issues out on your enthusiastic cock

I have another one that I have to share, because this guy just had me ballin’

You lost your belief in romantic love after twenty years in that bitch’s used up snatch

He is so hilariously crass, I just loved him. He was the perfect balance to Dair’s angst… Which was incessant by the way. Honestly it wasn’t his fault though. Iris disappears more than lost fucking socks in your dryer. He was clearly written a man in love, because the incessant “where is she? I love her so fucking much, I can’t move on with my life” was making me a little crazy. I just wanted her to fucking stay! They are so in love, but you have to wonder how in love are they because there she goes… off again.

Anyway, it’s still a great story and the May to December aspect of it, while it was supposed to be significant, didn’t feel important enough to be an integral part of the story. And that may be where I struggled, there were too many issues with Iris. It would have been better if the story could have just focused on one aspect of her, instead of the multiple arcs that she had going on.

I still think everyone should read this series. It’s delightfully filthy and I loved hearing things from the voice of Dair. It’s a nice change to hear things from a man’s perspective. It’s clipped and fast paced, so constantly moves, no time to drag things out. I would probably re-read the entire series again, because really I do like Dair (have I said that already).

One part of me was still in 100%, and that was my traitorous cock

This absolutely has a HEA if you need to know that before picking it up. Actually the entire book is a HEA from a one handed read perspective. Definitely on my recommended read list.

So now that this has ended, I’m ready for R.K Lilley’s next book, part of the Up In the Air Series: Mr. Beautiful.

IRIS (The Wild Side #2) – [Kindle Edition] $2.99

IRIS (THE WILD SIDE #2)

ARE YOU READY FOR A TWIST?

Who is Iris? Where did she come from? Where has she gone?

Alasdair Masters has more questions than answers about his new, too young obsession, and when he finds out she’s been lying to him, from their first meeting to their last one, he’s more confused than ever about her feelings, her intentions.

And what’s just as confusing are his own feelings. Has he turned something purely physical into something emotional in his own head? Is any of it mutual?

The only thing he doesn’t question is whether he’ll keep going back for more.

DAIR

Me, I was simple. I was order. A very neat, efficient machine that ran on nothing but air.

Me plus anyone else, well, that was another matter. And me plus Iris, that was a monster of a machine, with all gears going at different speeds, some spinning off their hinges, just going mad, but it was a wonderful madness, at full throttle, misfiring in all directions.

It felt wonderful and dreadful.

I was breaking down, and it felt amazing.

And terrifying.

This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

♥♥♥♥♥/5

What the fuck just happened here? Someone, anyone?! There has to be someone out there who has read this book and is wondering what the actual fuck is going on in this story.

It’s hard to give a review of something that you’re in the middle of reading where you just have no idea what so ever is going on. I mean in some other series I’ve read, I have a general incliniation, but this… I’m utterly baffled.

Dair is obviously a man possessed. He’s also incredibly horny and I have to say that I like it. The sex between the two characters is palatable and hot. I couldn’t grab just small sections of quotes from the book to share, there were pages of it. Dair doing delicious and wonderful things to Iris.

The story is riddled with page after page of smutty sex and a storyline that leaves you wondering where the hell we are going. I didn’t have a clue when I first started reading The Wild Side [kindle edition – $2.99], I now have less of a clue after reading this.  It’s such a terrible thing either.  I’m rooting for Dair and Iris.  I’m hoping that there is an amazing twist that give us the HEA they deserve.  Of course we wont’ know until July 25th.   I just don’t know what I am going to do with myself.  Seriously!

Oh for R.K Lilley fans, there is a little Easter Egg in the story.  Seriously, I had to read through it twice to make sure that I wasn’t being played with.
